Everything had been going great and then I noticed that occasionally I could not control the stereo from the controls on the steering wheel.
Can still control the stereo on the header unit though.
I have the late 2006 model that had upgrades fitted to it before delivery that gave me the 6 stacker CD and the better stereo, along with some other modifications that became standard on the 2007 model.
(The problem has continued to grow - the sir bag warning light started flashing, then buttons to control the display and tripmeters went next, then the cruise control buttons, and now the horn won't work.
Update from Aug 10, 2014: I used the link on the home page to chat with a Nissan expert online - he diagnosed my problem as a faulty Clock Spring (also known as a Spiral Cable).
My local dealer confirmed the diagnosis and completed the repairs for just under AU$500.
