THE COMPANY SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS MODEL AND FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR FREE BECAUSE THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSIONS ON THIS MODEL PATHFINDER .
Was driving and suddenly the truck was moving like I was on 4wd Low gear. When I stopped it was never able to restart. End up to be the computer within the transmission that melted because of a ground. I had the coolant issue 2 years ago. So I had to scrap the vehicle.
I bought my 2005 Pathfinder new in 2005. Loved it! Lost reverse with only 70,000 miles on it. Over $3,000.00 to fix. Absolutely ridiculous. A vehicle's transmission should last more than 70,000.00 miles!!
I just bought a 2005 nissan pathfinder 15 days ago from a dealership in belgrade and was told the vehicle had not been looked at but was priced way under resale value and ran great. This morning on my way to work the engine revved up into the 6 range but the car didn't move! I called the dealership and instead of fixing it they tried to upsell me into a new car. it has been towed and is now sitting in my driveway. I bought the car for $5000 and the price to fix the transmission is over half that! Isnt there something that can be done here?
So aggravated with this vehicle as we have water in the tranny and it failed. Now everything in the tranny is bad and has to be replaced. Please tell me there is recall for this!!
Govt should step in and make Nissan held accountable in some way. Not everybody has 4 or 5 thousands of dollars laying around to fix the vehicle. What happens to a poor person who depends on it to make a living? Apparently they think they are a $30000 disposable toy only good for 4 yrs and used car dealers are the worst ever. Buyer be aware, you are buying as is and they wipe their hands. They got a commission out of it, they don't care what happens after you take it off their lot. Transmission failure. Nissan failure.
I have 2005 Nissan Pathfinder and I have replaced the transmission twice. The car has 216K miles and the dealer is requesting that I pay $3900 to repair it. The issue is a known problem and I have owned several Nissans in the past. I will never buy another Nissan.
We bought this suv back in 2005 from my local nissan dealer. There have been other issues like a faulty pedal which back on that date when it Failed, it almost made me crash. They did fix that problem at my expense since they stated I was not covered by the warranty.
Now, my car is 10 years old with 90k miles and the transmission just died while driving to my relatives wedding. I did the regular trans fluid service and a few hours later the transmission failed. I took it back to nissan to get it checked. They want me to pay over $5,000.00 for a new transmission. I asked them why the transmission failed at only 90k miles. They did not give me any specific explanation as to why this happened. They only stated that "This type of pathfinders have had a lot of problems" and that was it. I asked if there was any recall regarding this issue, the guy said no. I am left with no other choice than to pay the 5 grand to get my car fixed.
They should not be selling faulty cars to consumers!!! I will never buy a nissan vehicle ever again!
Nissan needs to fix the problem with my transmission. I don't understand why they can't help customers who have been faithful to their vehicles and solve the problem. I also have a Nissan Frontier, and thank God nothing has happened to that as yet. We are hardworking people and would like Nissan to step up and fix the vehicles or else they will no longer have customers.
Bought a 2005 Pathfinder from a dealer in Fremont in 2008. Has warrenty of 10 years or 100,000 miles, which ever comes first, on the transmission. Apparently, unbeknownst to us, this car had been in an accident (undisclosed on autocheck) and the airbag and radiator were replaced at Nissan in Sunnyvale. (This was a previous lease, we're now told. )
Nissan is refusing the warrenty on this transmission because Sunnyvale Nissan put in a non-Nissan radiator. They say a non-Nissan part voids the warrenty.
This was sold as a certified vehicle to us. Nissan says it's too bad we weren't informed about the radiator, but their dealerships are under no obligation, even though they certify the vehicle, to have used Nissan parts or informed us of the previous owner.
I have an insurance policy for title written by Eagle, a division of American First Title, that garters this car had no damage. Anyway you look at it, this should have been covered. Everyone lied by ommision.
Shady and unethical. Never, ever again!

First, it was the paint peeling on the roof and around windshield and bare metal showing, now the transmission is gone. Now, the Pathfinder looks like new and is worthless.
I was rather upset and really disappointed especially upon learning afterwards that this has been an on going problem and the manufacturer has made very little attempt to resolve the issues with these trucks. I am now considering to somehow find a way to dispose of this problem vehicle one way or another, inasmuch that like this truck, but I do not intend to hang on to anything that turns out to be problematic...
Nissan should have done a proper recall and replaced these transmissions. There is no reason I should be replacing a transmission this early in the life of my SUV. I am from a family of Nissans, between my mother, sister and I we have owned:
All of these have been purchase between the years of 1993-2008. We have always bragged on the quality of vehicles Nissan produced. The truck was totaled in an accident, the sentry and Altima's were sold to (and are still on the road to this day). The Quest and Pathfinder are still owned by my mother and I. I was in the market for a Armada, but now I am starting to rethink that idea. I love my Pathfinder, but I do not love the issues with the transmission and the fuel pump. I expected more out of Nissan, and I am disappointed.
I just bought a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder, at the end of January of this year, and just last week I had to put it in the shop due to a malfunction of the transmission. I have been doing some research on the car after I started having problems, and I learned of a problem that exists with hundreds of other owners, who state that coolant is leaking into the transmission from the radiator causing severe damage in the transmission.
Now I have only had this truck for about 3 months and I am having this issue. I have an extended warranty on it but I am not sure how much of this will be covered by the warranty, but I am being proactive before I get the estimates from the service writer at the Nissan dealership. They have already told me that the warranty does not cover a transmission fluid flush, so I am nervous already.
I bought this car from Doug Henry Chevrolet, and I am wondering if they knew about this issue before I purchased this truck, or did they do any research before they sale this vehicles. What is it that people who have this problem can do, so that we won't get stuck with the whole bill.
Nissan should have had a recall on this or at least been willing to repair these vehicles with such a major fallout. I found out that they do offer an extended warranty up to 90,000 miles, but I see that in most cases, this problem occurs at about 100,000 miles. That doesn't seem fair to me at all, I'm afraid that I am going to be stuck paying the cost of a radiator and a transmission. Help please?
My transmission failed at 153,000 miles, very upset because not only still owe a car loan but have to repair it. It's not worth to fix it, a lot of money to invest on car.
I had noticed a change in the shifting a few months ago, but didn't think anything of it since it happened infrequently. Then all of a sudden this past weekend the transmission just went out. I bought the vehicle in 2008 after someone returned it from a lease. I've never had any issues with the vehicle until now. I was told about the radiator issue once when they told me about the transmission, even though this was not the case they advices me to go ahead and replace the radiator at the same time. I don't plan on replacing either, but to just get rid of the vehicle. They quoted me a price of $10,000 to replace the radiator, transmission and both catalytic converters. The service technician even suggested I just trade the car in and put that money on something else.
Transmission failed while driving. Thankfully my wife was on side streets and not on freeway. Had some previous warning signs like vibration but not consistent. She was able to drive home on road shoulders with emergency lights blinking at 5mph, again it was ok to do this as it happened around 2:30pm and there was little traffic.
