rod knock - connecting rod bearing bad

Rod knock occurred with no warning. Never had an oil issue. Never burned any oil at all. Labor cost to fix the $10.00 Bearing sleeve most likely over $2,000. Truck still runs but, to simply remove the main oil pan (to expose the lower rod bearings on the crank) is most likely 5+ hours of labor. It requires complete exhaust manifold to be removed motor needs to be jacked up, catalytic converter be disconnected, plus engine cross member and many many other parts need to be removed (same labor if you just needed to change the main oil pan gasket). 3 pages of removal directions are in the factory shop manual for oil pan removal procedure. (The Nissan designer should be drawn and quartered for this design). This was a rare truck. The last year for 5 speed stick shift manual transmission 4X4. CD also broken before I got the truck, never fixed it. Also Engine check light stays on all the time with code indicating Fuel Cap seal rubber gasket not working, but no matter how many times you replace the cap the engine check light with code indicating the same fuel cap issue, always comes back in a few days.

Nissan (and Toyota) are NO longer the reliable cars they use to be in the 1980's-1980's. This great Car Complaints website is a wealth of information into car issues. Check Nissan 1980's-1989 Nissan 300zx zero complaints ( I also have had nine of them. still have my 1988 300x, 180k miles Zero defects in 30 years).

Will not fix but sell as is.
