I have a 2011 Murano Crosscabriolet convertible with 60,000 miles that I have thoroughly enjoyed... until recently. The top spontaneously broke and got stuck open straight up. As fate would have it, the weather was in the low 30's. I had to call my husband who with the help of another kind stranger helped to manually put the top down so we could drive it. The drive was not only a freezing one, but we were also provided with a high pitch beeping noise that lasted the entire drive home. This was the beginning of a sad death of my beloved Murano.
We took it to a fabulous service manager at our local Nissan dealership in Pasco, WA. No one seems to know how to fix the top. To their chagrin and ours, the bill kept skyrocketing and the top is still not fixed. After replacing mechanisms that had broken to raise the top ($2,800 - and that's with labor discounts), we were hopeful I would get my treasured car back. But alas, it looks like there is now a computer issue that is now going to cost over $4,000 more on top of what we have already spent. After doing some internet research, I discovered we are not alone in the challenges of this model. We have loved Nissan, but we can't help but feel we got a defective product.
I contacted Nissan and they refuse to do anything to help recoup costs, or even support their Nissan dealers that are trying to help us and discounting labor costs for us. I'm wondering if we have grounds for a class action suit for the 2011 Murano? Looks like this is a familiar complaint with this model. Even though the car was in prime condition and could have sold for 10-12 thousand dollars with a dealer, I had to pay the $2,800 service bill, and then traded the car in for $6,000 for another Nissan that the dealership gave to me for a good deal. Basically, I got $3,000 for the car. Consumer trust has been broken with me though with Nissan corporate, and due to their poor customer service and defective product, I am unwilling to do business with Nissan again.
