My driver side sun visor has failed. It will not stay up in the home position nor will it stay against the windshield. It has simply flopped down and is blocking my view through the windshield. The only way I can operate my Murano is to move the visor to the left against the window of the driver's door. From the research I have done I have gleaned that this is an intrinsic design flaw common on all Murano and Rouge vehicles. And replacing it with an OEM sun visor at the dealership will not remedy the problem since the one they install will also fail eventually. Nissan has turned a deaf ear and blind eye to this critical safety hazard that obstructs the driver's forward view. There should be a recall on these visors. But don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen. I, for one, am NOT going to shell out the $400 that the dealership wants for the replacement visor...nor am I going to pay $150 an hour shop labor to have it installed. People be aware that there are NON-OEM replacement visors available on eBay and Amazon in the $50 price range and if you look on YouTube there are videos showing how to simply and easily install the new visor yourself with little more than a flathead screwdriver and a phillips head screw driver. Drivers side sun visor is will not stay in any set position. This is a serious safety issue on any day that the sun out, particularly driving into the sun. This is a critical safe driving component of any vehicle. Very expensive part to purchase, for what it is, because of the high demand since so many have failed. The sun visor will not stay up, as it will just drop in front of your line of vision, and it will not stay towards windshield to block the blinding sun. It looks like these complaints have been placed in various areas on here.
The sun visor on the driver's side (left side) no longer stays in the up position. It hangs down and blocks the view if the rearview mirror and blocks the view if street signs and street lights.

The driver's side sun visor will not stay up. It hangs in the down position and obstructs the view of the driver. It initially would only fall down when the vehicle hit a bump in the roadway.now the visor will not stay up at all and is constantly blocking the driver's view.
Car won't start. Taken to dealership four times in one month and continues to have issues. Originally told it was the ipdm module which was replaced. About a week and half later the engine wouldn't start again but the dashboard lights, radio and heat/air wouldn't shut off. Was told this time that it was a faulty battery which was replaced. After picking it up and driving less than 10 miles and sitting for a few hours it wouldn't start again. Every single light on the dashboard is on and again the engine won't start or cut off the lights. Had it towed back to the dealership and 4 days later was told that it was due to a rusty bolt of some sort that was loose and needed to be replaced. 2 days later it wouldn't start again. A few hours later the car starts but the check engine light is on. Car was towed to dealership again and it has now been four days with no updates from the dealership. Also - drivers side sunvisor is broken and won't stay up which impairs vision. After all of these trips to the dealership they said it would cost over $200 to fix. I didn't think much of it until I reviewed and noticed that many other have the same issue with the sun visors so this is not an isolated incident.
Sun visors break and fall down. Will not stay up affects vision no recall talked to Nissan dealer they said this was a problem across the board but 200 for visor plus labor!. car under warranty but does no cover this. Nissan needs to do a recall to fix problem. I have seen many other owners complaints with Nissan.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that the visor did not work. The contact stated that the visor hanged down and impaired the driver's view. The vehicle was taken to Nissan of lake charles (337-439-9955, located at 1700 siebarth dr, lake charles, la 70615) where it was diagnosed that the visor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to cover half of the repair cost. The failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000. The VIN was not provided.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Murano. While driving, the driver and passenger side sun visors fell down and prevented the contact from viewing the road. The vehicle was taken to reliable Nissan (located at 9951 coors blvd nw, albuquerque, nm 87114, (505) 435-9825), but was not diagnosed or repaired because the warranty did not cover the sun visors. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.
The driver's side sun visor droops and doesn't stay in the stowed position. Instead, it falls without warning and obstructs the driver's view which is a serious safety issue that places the driver, passengers and other motorists at risk. This is a known issues with the Murano and is not isolated to the 2014 model year. Do a search on the NHTSA website for Murano sun visor and you will see more than a dozen issues reported. And those are the issues that were reported via the NHTSA website, imagine how many actually are out there unreported! there is no excuse why Nissan or the NHTSA hasn't investigated this further and issued a recall. Looking the other way regarding this matter is no longer an option, the manufacturer and NHTSA need to take action immediately. The dealer typically wants >$400+ to replace this sun visor and many consumers have had it replaced only to need to replace it again! this is simply unacceptable and is evidence that the part is poorly engineered. I challenge Nissan to step up and do the right thing and issue a recall and replace these downright dangerous sun visors before there is a fatal accident and litigation. The Murano is marketed as an upmarket product and if the trim inside falls short of that in terms of quality and is a flawed design that could potentially result in an accident due to obstructed view, this must be addressed immediately. We will be taking our vehicle to the dealer to be repaired but do not wish to pay the egregious price for a replacement that will likely fail again due to a design defect. Again, I call on NHTSA and Nissan to take action and address this issue immediately! NHTSA is mandated to protect motorists and here is a clear case where they can step in and take action and prevent harm to consumers.
Drivers side visor does not stay up. While driving visor drops with out warning. Very hazardous. Has almost caused wreck. Ongoing problem with these vehicles.
Transmission slipping. RPM goes up and down when accelerating. The engine light came on while driving. We took to mechanic and were told selenoid B on transmission was out. Also both window visors fall when driving impairing vision.

Sheehy Nissan of glen burnie (7232 ritchie hwy, glen burnie, md) was contacted and diagnosed that the hood assembly would have to be replaced due to the defrost system being connected and working in tandem. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 33,800.
My 2014 Nissan Murano drivers side sun visor does not stay in place and has to be held in place by a small bungee cord now since Nissan states it's not a covered repair. The cost to buy a new visor and install is over $370 from the dealer. This is a safety hazard and should not be responsible for the cost. A quick search on the internet confirms many others with the same issue.
While driving the driver side sun visor falls without warning, obstructing vision. It will not stay all the way up. Sometimes it falls all the way down, and sometimes it stops partway down and if I make a quick stop my head hit it. I cannot lower the automatic seat far enough to get below it sufficiently. This is a safety hazard because it blocks my view while driving. I took this vehicle to the Nissan dealership and they can repair it by installing a completely new visor assembly at a cost of nearly $300, but they do not want to do so because the problem will recurr after some time. They say it is a defect that Nissan has not corrected. I researched the problem and within minutes found hundreds of people with the same problem. This happens whenever the vehicle is in motion, but the visor will not stay up even when parked.
Driver side sun visor fails to hold position and falls down blocking visibility. This has occurred when driving and for tall drivers completely blocks the road or even worse drops on left turn.
