This appears to be a problem related to the CVT, particularly given the history of Nissan CVTs. I am hopeful that enough people with similar problems might spur Nissan to extend the warranty for the CVT as they have done previously for earlier models.
This extreme hesitation does not result in any check engine light coming on, and my OBD2 unit does not detect any codes. I will no longer drive this car with my two young children for fear of being involved in an accident. Neither the dealership nor my usual mechanics have been able to find any issues.
I have cleaned the mass air flow sensor and disconnected the trailer brake switch with no effect. I would certainly like to avoid paying four grand for a new CVT on such a young car.
