really awful
brakes problem
Twice now during normal driving the brake pedal has gone all the way to the floor while trying to apply the brakes. There was a total loss of braking. After pumping the brakes they returned to normal. Took the car to the dealer and explained the condition and they did a full brake exam. Ended up having the rear brakes replaced. Seemed O.K. until it happened again today.

The brakes seemed fine and firm, then all of a sudden they were soft and we had to use the emergency brake to control the car to a safe stop. The brakes were replaced, but it still happens now and again, and then seems to react normal.

I have a problem with soft pedal brake on a Nissan Murano 2009, the SUV has been in 3 workshops including Nissan dealer in my country, the couldn't help me because they say that the hole brake system was perfect, and the only thing they could think of is the Master Cylinder.
I went back to a mechanic that already make it work after bleeding the brake fluid, he detected that the front brake jaws rubber seals where like inflated, we change them and so far is working good.
We have some issues now about the AWD lock, it seems that is not unlocking, when you turn the car it feels like braking just like the manual says so, hope we figure out what the problem is now.

Loss of brake pressure especially noticeable after hitting small bumps while applying brakes. Spongy feel. Will stiffen back up after pumping a few time, but recurs randomly. Also, pedal goes to floor at long stop light. No ABS light or other indication of ABS engaging.
After checking pads, fluid & bleeding lines, father-in-law said had to be the master cylinder. Local (non-dealership) mechanic confirmed same diagnosis. I left the car with him while on vacation. He replaced the MC but in his own testing, he was not satisfied that the problem was resolved (same spongy feel & loss of brake pressure.) He continued for a week to test & research the issue (codes, Nissan service bulletins, etc.), but could not find a satisfactory resolution of the braking problem. He finally suggested that I take it to a Nissan dealer. (A side note here... my mechanic did not charge me ANY labor... trusting me with the "honor system" if it's determined that the MC is bad! Who does that?! :)
(In the interim, my A/C went out! After inspecting and testing, My mechanic thinks that is also electronic-related after checking all other "usual suspects". The fan blows, compressor not kicking on, Freon fully charged - no leaks.). So I took the car to a local Nissan dealership. They cannot duplicate the brake problem (my guess is they haven't tried very hard).
Recommended front pads and turn rotors. False. That is not and will not solve the problem. Told them previous mechanic said it had to be sensor-related (Yaw sensor, ABS/Traction control computer, VDC...?). Nissan guy said they did not see anything like that in the codes (mind you my mechanic pulled 23 codes for various issues, including the Yaw).
I DO NOT want to continue to drive my car with un-reliable brakes! There has to be a solution - and Nissan should be addressing!

The Murano's brake pedal is normally very stiff, but lately, the pedal goes almost all the way to the floor and must be pumped to engage the brakes. The service foreman at the Nissan dealer can't reproduce the event and has no idea why it is occurring. I guess my trip to the mountains is on hold. He suggested that we replace the front brake pads (15% pad left) and replace the brake fluid even though the fluid is clear and level is at the very top.
Has anyone else noticed similar problems?

Brake pedal is soft, dealer replaced master cylinder, didn't fix issue. Now dealership says ABS actuator with a WHOOPING cost of $2400. Are you kidding me. I love my Nissans and this is my third but this has shaken my confidence in them and is going to be my last one!
