Power rear hatch no longer latches/locks closed; it just bounces up rather than latching when we lower the hatch door to close it. None of the power controls for the hatch work. Luckily it failed the day after the long Thanksgiving return trip, so no luggage falling out of the back onto the road, but just after the 90 day used car warranty ran out. Good thing we bought an extended warranty... I see a number of complaints about door locking mechanisms failing on the Murano, some quite scary, but no recall; sseems like a lawsuit just waiting to happen.
Update from Dec 1, 2015: Found chats about other electrical malfunctions in other Nissan corp automobiles (Infiniti G35 courtesy light failure) that were fixed by disconnecting negative battery cable for a period of time (15-20 minutes; less time might work too) and after re-connection proper functionality was restored, it seemed by causing a "reset" to happen in the BCM (Body Control Module).
I did same, removed negative battery cable for about 20 minutes, and after battery was re-connected all functions of the power lift gate worked just fine. Prior to the battery disconnect I did have to access the rear lift gate latching mechanism and push things around a bit to get it to manually latch properly (mechanism accessible via a removable panel at the bottom inside of the lift gate) as lift gate was not latching/not locking. I do not know if this is a random failure or it is an indication that a control module (BCM or rear power control module) is about to fail more drastically.
