Maxima owners report spending $3,000 to replace the transmission, typically around when the odometer hits 100,000 miles.

There's a class action lawsuit filed in late 2011, & it is still in the "discovery" stage. Apparently, these things take time ... far too much time.

The contact owns 2004 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that outer perimeter of the sky view window exhibited rust. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who advised that the vehicle was rusting prematurely for a climate that was primarily warm and dry. The manufacturer was contacted but would not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 34,000.

Letter concerning the skyview roof glass recall for the 2004 Maximas.** answer required***. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer to have the recalled glass replaced but was told that her vehicle was not included in the recall, therefore the glass was not replaced. Eight months later the skyview roof completely shattered while the consumer was driving.

The sun roof glass shattered while driving on the highway. Consumer pulled over to a rest area before the glass entered the cabin of the vehicle. It was towed to a local dealership, who provided a temporary fix by removing the loose pieces of glass, and covering the sunroof with a plastic material. Investigation #PE04-035 was issued on this problem.
