Electric seat will not move forward it goes up and down reclines and goes up. But I cannot get it to move forward. Since I never change my driving position and have no need to move it. It should still work. My car is in prime condition everything on the car is in working and excellent condition. Dealer said I have to get a new "seat and track; I don't understand why then never removed the two bolts and looked to see if the wire may have come off the unit? $2000 dollars to repair sound like a rip off. Your thoughts.
Driver's seat failed on impact with another vehicle. Seat went into full recline position which caused the driver to be thrown out of his seatbelt and through the back windshield.
The contact reported a 2002 Nissan Altima. The driver was traveling at an unknown speed and became distracted, veering off the roadway. The driver maneuvered the steering wheel in various directions in an effort to regain control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled over approximately eight times. The driver was not injured however, a passenger was killed. The vehicle was inspected by state police who advised that at the time of the crash, the passenger's seat was reclined, causing the seat belt to fail to restrain the passenger effectively. The contact stated that after seven years of research she discovered that most passenger seats were unsafe when they were reclined. The contact wanted a warning to be placed on the visor of the vehicle alerting passengers to the danger, as well as possibly a mechanism that would not allow the seat to be adjusted once the vehicle was in motion. The failure mileage was not available. The VIN was not available. Updated 2/1/2013
The driver's seat in my 2002 Nissan Maxima gle does not move forward making it difficult reaching the petal. Also, the seat can drop to the ground making visibility poor where you may not be able to see what is in front of you. This problem just occurred about 7 months ago out of the blue. I am the only person who drives this care and rely on the car for transportation to work daily. It is apparent that this matter is a threat to the safety of the driver of the car and Nissan should recall and fix the problem. Toyota stepped up to the plate at least they care about their customer's safety. This is a very serious safety problem and I hope Nissan looks into this immediately. Thanking you for your time and hope this will help everyone that owns a Maxima by Nissan issuing a recall on their front seat safety mechanisms that are defective. I've never owned a car where this was an issue before and would not want someone to get injured B/C this problem could have been corrected by Nissan.
Driver's power seat will not move forward or backward. This first occurred with an odometer reading of 31,242. This is a danger for all drivers who do not have long legs. Nissan has been aware of this problem in 2000-2003 Nissan Maximas, and have issued service bulletin # ntb02-001C. Unfortunately, Nissan has not informed NHTSA and there in no recall on record for this problem. I hope this information will prompt NHTSA to investigate this problem. Thank you for your help.
