Bad #2 ignition coil on 2000 Nissan Maxima. It is just outside of the warranty period with 38,000 miles and only 3 years old. The car experienced loss of power and vibrating. Corporate Nissan would not extend warranty to cover this defect, even though there is a service bulletin acknowledging the problem.
Car started stuttering so I had my local Nissan dealer diagnose. Have to replace the ignition coils = big $$$'s! I am upset since I am hearing that this is a very common problem in 2000 Maxima's and Nissan won't recall it as they are probably too cheap. This will be my last Nissan ever purchased.
Ignition coil failure. Engine ping and loses power when accelerating resulting in dangerous situations when merging into traffic on highway. Manufacturer refuse to cover replacement under power train warranty.
Replacement of (6) engine ignition coils on car with 46,000 miles. Cost $675. There is a technical service bulletin that identifies this problem and the servicing dealer admits seeing this problem often. This component is designed to last 100,000 miles and the manufacturer regular service maintenance doesn't suggest replacing at any service interval up through 90,000 miles. So, if the dealers are seeing this problem often on a component that is lasting less than expected then the component failure and longevity rate are unsatisfactory and consumers should be reimbursed at a prorated basis at a minimum.
I also had problems with the electrical engine: Ignition. I had my #6 coil replaced recently. This is my third and last Nissan. Their quality has gone way down. My mechanic advise me to sell it as soon as possible. He had many complaints/ problems with Nissan cars. You'll end end spending more money and getting more headaches han it's worth. Nissan needs to be more responsible for their products!-their customer service won't do you any good. I don't expect anything from them. I hope that more people would come out with their problems so that it can be investigated. I've always brought it to the dealership to get my car serviced, but it seems like no one knows what they're doing. They never seem to fix the right thing, and you end up wasting money on service you don't need.

Ignition coils failed at 45,000 miles. Spoke with dealer who advised it is happening on sever vehicles, including quest and Maxima. Contacted Nissan corporate and they gave me a credit at the dealer. Repair was $1,000, credit was $150.
2000 Nissan Maxima gle, 43,000 miles - rough running - service light-diagnosed ignition coil bad - although won't indicate which one- after researching, this seems to be a common problem- Nissan has redesigned bad coils, suggests replacing with new design, yet won't cover cost nor admit defect- extreme cost ( about $700) issued service bulletin ntb 01-059. Should be recalled as defective parts !
2000 Nissan Maxima SE with 56,000 miles. Mil light turned on while driving and stayed on. No knocking or power loss. Went to dealer and found dtc P1320 stored. Dealer said Nissan recommends to replace all 6 ignition coils ! cost me $800 and Nissan and dealer refused to help pay for the defect. This defect is regular for 1995-2001 Maximas but Nissan refused to recall it or fix it under warranty ! they know about this problem as they have a tsr out for this. The dealer told me many 2000 Maximas are having this problem fixed. But they don't want to take responsibility
The coil has gone out on my 2000 Nissan Maxima twice now the first time catching on fire. The first time I just thought that it was just a part that needed to be replaced, after a little research I now believe that this is a defective part that needs to be recalled.
Ignition coil failed, this is a defective part, so many have failed on this model. That none are available and Nissan is looking at different manufacturers because of the number of problems.
Consumer brought vehicle in for replacement of the cylinder ignition coil. The replacement part was not covered under any vehicle warranties. The vehicle was taken in for service because it was mis firing under driving conditions and was hazardous to drive. The power train did not operate properly to deliver power from the engine to the wheels.
We are currently waiting for a # 6 coil for our 2000 Maxima, this part is on back order from the manufacturer and there are no available parts in the U.S. since this part is on hold for other customers at other dealerships in the area, it seems to me that this part is failing on a lot of new cars(under three years old) this part should be recalled. We've also experienced a failure with the transmission and since our car was still under warranty at the time, we had it fixed at the manufacturers expense. Instead of receiving a new one we received a "rebuilt" one. How do you have a "rebuilt" transmission on hand for a brand new car is a question I've never had answered from the maufacturer.
