Funnily enough I am very familiar with carcomplaints.com and have used it to avoid buying problem vehicles. I have never before made a complaint. Yesterday I looked up a vehicle that I had just purchased-this brand new 2022 Leaf with automatic emergency braking. I was never planning on testing the auto braking until a dog ran out in the road three vehicles ahead causing a chain reaction. I saw a similar complaint about a customer who said that the brakes had failed causing an accident. I completely dismissed the complaint since again, I would never rely on a vehicle braking for me.....until I attempted to brake to avoid an accident the second day I owned the vehicle. I believe that I was far enough from the vehicle in front of me that I should have been able to brake in time to avoid hitting it. And emergency braking never engaged. If anything it responded worse in an emergency than any vehicle I have owned. This was my first Nissan and will unfortunately be my last. Sadly, I have no doubt that the vehicle will be totalled. The airbags and seat belts did their job. No one was injured. It was enjoyable to drive for 100 miles, but I will never be able to trust the brake system.
