Juke SX 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,756 miles

I have owed the car for almost four years. There are less than 20k miles on this vehicle. That being said there should be no problems with the transmission. Since there are, the dealership should cover this under a recall. It is possible I will need a new transmission and with being a new and low mileage vehicle, having to purchase a new transmission puts this car into the lemon law category, in my book.

Juke SL 1.6L 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,000 miles

After my 10,000 miles service, I noticed my Juke started shuddering and shaking as I slowly accelerated through stop and go traffic. I turned off the AC and the radio to ensure electrical was not straining the car too much. The problem persisted and got worse as another month passed. The shuddering got so bad that when I'd hit the gas pedal it felt like I had a wild animal squirming under my foot. The only solution was to hold back in traffic and then give it lots of gas (over 2000 RPMs).

Still, after another 5 minutes of traffic or so, it would happen again. The car never did stall, but the shuddering was highly irritating, as I'd have to let off the gas or gun it to get it to stop. I took my Juke to the dealer to see what was up. Nissan was super nice (gave me a loaner) and kept the car for five days to be thorough, but they could not get an error to show up on their diagnostic computer.

When they called me to come pick it up, my paperwork and the service rep reported that no repair had been done as no issue had been detected. However, the car is driving "tighter" like it did when it was new. The shuddering hasn't happened so far, 24 hours after I got it back. Fingers crossed.

The car is under a year old, far too "young" to be having transmission issues already. The CVT transmission is awesome for gas mileage - I just hope it isn't going to be more of a headache than beneficial.
