fuel pressure sensor leaking gas at large rate
in cranking the vehicle you could smell gas fumes really bad, been happening for a couple of weeks. yesterday 2/28/2017 the fumes were so bad you could not stay in the car. took it to the dealer today, they say the fuel pressure sensor was spewing gas everywhere. the Sensor was replaced or fixed when we first go the vehicle and now it is happening again. This dealer wants $497.00 for a new sensor(cost only) I looked the information up and the reason it leaks is two O-rings in the sensor. Also noticed that there is a recall and a no sale from Nissan on the internet. Looks like Nissan and the dealer are trying to really rip me off. waiting on them to call back. they said it was a tightening problem, but the screws are just for holding the sensor in. the O-rings are what keeps the fuel from leaking and there was no warning light or sound on the dash for the problem.
Update from Mar 6, 2017: talked with the dealership, they advised that it is leaking and that they would not cover it. they could not clarify if it was leaking at the lockdown position on the sensor where they were suppose to have torqued it 2 years ago. looking at the other post it appears that every two years, you can expect something to go wrong with the item. contacted Nissan and then they called the dealer. Nissan is not willing to back up the defect due to (quote- to many miles on the vehicle.) Do not suggest buying a Nissan for anyone. Appears there will not back up the equipment they sell. Pulling the sensor and will know then where it is leaking and replace it myself.
