My truck 2012 Frontier looks great. Outer panels are double galvanized. Have a life time warranty for original owners, but the outer panels are doors and fenders only. The rest of the truck is a cheap untreated hot rolled steel. Mine is rusting threw the bed in several places. This problem is made worse by the factory spray on liner that hides the rust until it bubbles and is a hole. Nissan made a management decision not include the bed in the outer panels that got the double galvanized steel that would have cost them $40 per unit. I contacted Nissan and they declined any help. No way should a 2012 truck rust through with today's steels. When buying your next truck or car remember the company that wants to save a couple of bucks at your expense. Thanks
Update from Jul 28, 2019: I sanded the bad spots and found the steel to be bad. I worked in the Cleveland steel mills for 33 years as a melter and know laminated steel with inclusions. We never sent steel to customer that did not meet his specs. It was marked down and sent to our warehouse as a secondary product. So where did Nissan get the steel that made my truck bed. This is not isolated event altimas have this defect and are rusting through the floor boards even in the southern states. The Titantic sank because of bad steel dont let Nissan sink your investment in there products. thank you
