B.F. goodrich, radial long trail T/a tires P235/70R15, dot unknown, original equipment on a 2000, Nissan, Frontier with 18000 miles. While driving 65 mph left rear sidewall separated from tread all the way around. No accident. The consumer believes that part of the tire failure was caused by the tire tread design and the grooved freeway surface, at 65 mph with proper tire inflation pressure the truck vibrates badly, the consumer is unaware that the tire is losing pressure until the tire blewout the sidewall.
I was driving alone at freeway speed of 65mph, when it felt like I had hit a strong wind, but the trees at the side of the road were not moving, so I started to pull over to the side of the freeway, when the tire blew out. The entire sidewall blew out of the tire. I have a photo of the tire. No one was injured but the rim is pretty torn up. (dot number: W2vfnna199 tiresize: P21565R159)
Wilderness ht Firestone (P215/65R15) tires have undulations in sidewalls, consumer was advised by Firestone dealer that was normal, consumer has reported to Firestone Consumer Affairs the potential safety hazard of the tires.
While traveling at highway speed noticed vibration. Consumer slowed vehicle down. Back right tire sidewall had a blowout. Firestone wilderness ht tire, size P215/65R15, dot wzvfnna347.
