We bought our 2012 Armada new. It is not garage kept, however, it is well taken care of. Just before our warranty ran out, we noticed small patches of paint on the hood that were not just chipped, but peeling. When we took it to the dealership, we were told that it was normal wear and tear and each chip/peel spot was due to a rock or something hitting it and warranty would not cover it. We then took it to get an estimate from a local body shop. They told us that while they did want our money ($2,200 because he has to strip the entire hood) we should take it back to Nissan because while they agreed that the chips were from a rock hitting the truck, the paint should in no way peel and he felt that the peeling was from lack of a sealer. This guy found several spots on the truck (besides the hood). We took it to another Nissan dealer and they too said no go on the warranty covering it. We then went to get another estimate from another body shop and we were told the exact same thing that the other body shop said...paint from the manufacturer should not be peeling...by this point nearly a year has passed and the peeling is so much worse and the small spots the 1st body shop found are way worse. The 2nd body shop suggested contacting corporate directly, which we did...we were told "so sorry....the warranty is out, so there isn't anything we can do." I have owned several Nissans in the past and am so disappointed that my most expensive...at nearly $40k didn't hold a paint job over 5 years.
