I have lost braking ability several times when this symptom happens. Brake light comes on the dashboard, brake pedal goes all the way to the floor, and there is grinding noise from the front end toward the wheels. Sounds like the brakes are spring activated. Vehicle braking ability is reduced to 10% or less. Turning ignition off/on resolves for short time, but not a permanent fix.

  • 28,000 miles
At 28,000 miles we were in our Armada driving on a busy road, I went to make a right hand turn, used my brakes, and they went completely to the floor, eventually braking but there was a delay of two seconds or more. A major grinding noise also sounded off. All the brake lights, slip, etc came on. Dealership said that my brake booster needed to be replaced. I was under the impression this was a manufactures defect since the brakes weren't stopping properly. The same exact thing happened again at 95K miles. I had my children with me this time!!!! I drove straight to pepboys, (which was closest to me). They told me they were getting a brake booster error! I called Nissan corporate to find out what they could do. [xxx] opened case number [xxx]. she stated I had to take SUV in to dealership. Nissan confirmed it was a brake booster issue again! Nissan stated they are not going to take ownership of this problem, because I'm out of warranty. This isn't a mileage or warranty issue!! Nissan already made their decision not to cover the cost of the faulty part because it was replaced at 28K miles. But this is the 2nd time the brake booster needs replacement. Doesn't anyone see there is a problem here"? I am asking for Nissan to take accountability but they won't. this could have been life threatening in both circumstances because an accident could have occurred and Nissan won't even take ownership and make this issue correct?? it's not the money that's at stake, it's a faulty part and my own safety! the sales man at Nissan said 300-400 of these have been replaced already?! that should raise a red flag I would hope" I have encountered this two times now and Nissan isn't owning up to the urgency in this matter! information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

My wife has experienced our Nissan 06 Armada losing braking power. It first started about a year ago and she didn't say anything because she thought it was just a brake issue. Have had it to a brake shop on several occasions and have found nothing wrong. It has happened to me twice this week. I then went on a Nissan forum and other internet sites to see that hundreds of people have had the same issue with Nissan Armada brake/ABS issues. This is a major concern for us as an owner and should be to anyone reading this post. The brake light comes on while braking and it comes out of now where..I was on a flat surface heading to a red light... the ABS kicked in and the braking power went to about 30 %. the brake pedal was only engaged about 1/3 of the distance and grinding started and continue till I came to a stop I had to manually shift down in order to stop at the red light. I set my flashers, turned the ignition off and got out.. didn't see or sense anything out of the ordinary other than I had very little braking power and brakes were grinding..turned the car back on and the lights went off and the brakes worked fine. I know the pads and rotors are good, just had them checked on my state inspection. This is alarming because this is my wife's car and she drivers our kids around in it... something needs to be done to keep this incident from becoming something much worse... I sense it is a sensor issue or something to do with that because it comes out of no where while braking.

Brakes are making a noise and the ABS, vdc and slip lights are coming up on the dashboard. We have tried turning on and off vehicle. This made the lights go off at first. We have checked brake fluid. We have had the brakes inspected. No visible reason for this to occur. I have seen numerous reports on this same problem. Why is my vehicle not covered in the ntb06-040 recall?

During normal driving brake light suddenly comes on. Braking power is severely reduced and there is a loud mechanical noise. After turning the engine off the fault resets itself and disappears. This has happened twice in the last year. This is unpredictable and could easily cause a crash if it happened at the wrong time.

I have been experiencing a problem with the brakes on my 2006 Nissan Armada. Purchased 2006 Armada less than 20 days ago, . since the 2nd week the brakes will make a scary noise (can't really describe it - grinding), the brakes work at about 10% and the brake light goes on. Once the vehicle is turned off, the brake light goes out, the noise disappears and the brakes work at 100% once again. I recently googled the problem and see that there are hundreds of people with the same problem. I can believe that Nissan is not doing anything with this issue.

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that when the brake was depressed, the brake warning light illuminated and the brake exhibited an abnormal grinding noise. The contact stated that the brake system reset to normal when the vehicle was turned off for a moment. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The dealer reprogrammed the computer system however the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer had an engineer test drive the vehicle, who was able to duplicate the failure. The dealer checked the tire pressure, adjusted the brake fluid level, serviced the rotors and bled the brakes but to no avail. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000 and the current mileage was 55,000.

As I am driving my 2006 Nissan Armada, my brake light illuminates on my dashboard and I loose braking power. Clunking/springing noises simultaneously begin. It becomes very difficult to stop the vehicle. When the vehicle is turned off and on, the problem disappears. There is no common factor as to when this problem occurs. Recently, the vehicle was reprogrammed - a repair Nissan indicated would fix the problem. Yet, the problem continues to occur and Nissan is unable or unwilling to determine the cause of the problem to date. A search of the internet shows that this problem is quite common for owners of 2006 Nissan Armadas, give or take a few years.

I bought this 2006 Nissan Armada brand new. I have had the same problem with the brakes several times already. The brake light goes on and a griding noise comes out when I hit the brakes. I took it the Nissan dealer and they said it sofware issue when it was still under warranty and they upgraded the software and it worked for couple of years then again and again, I spend about $160 each time to correct the software now. This time they said it needs some parts and softwhere upgrade about $750, so I parked the car and I'm looking for other alternatives. Any one know of a recall related to this issue.
