Driving on the interstate I started to hear a metal on metal squealing noise. My parking brake light came on and I pulled off to the side thinking I had forgotten to depress the brake. However, it didn't work. After driving again I couldn't use the brakes so I called the tow and went to the Nissan dealership I was using before. I was told I needed a brake booster replacement. This was almost $1000! I asked if it would fix the issue. I was told yes and that I needed to fix it before it caused a fatality. Of course this scared me and I told them to fix whatever was needed. Twenty-two hundred dollars later and a few months and I'm looking at the same issue happening again. When I notified Nissan they have been too "busy" and said to schedule an appointment. Um, excuse me I can't drive my car! the nonchalant attitude, coupled with the subpar resolution, has me furious. I don't know what to say or think. I feel helpless. This is my only vehicle, it's completely paid off and I don't have room to get another one. I'm with the other posts here that Nissan should value our patronage and look into a fix for this. If that happens to be a replacement vehicle then so be it. But, something needs to be done soon before someone gets hurt due to their negligence.

I was in a school zone picking up my daycare kids. As soon as I took off the parking brake and put the car in drive it showed the brake light on. Confused I checked everything and proceeded to drive home. As I reached the stop sign with a crossing guard escorting kids across I really had to push down on the brake and a loud crunching like metal to metal and shaking occurred. It scared the day lights out of me! I turned the corner pulled over to the side took a deep breath. I took the streets home and drove very slow praying that when I would come to a stop sign that my brakes would work. I get to my other stop to pick up my child from her bus stop. Coming to the stop still have all the grinding noise and praying it will stop. I turned off my car and waited for the bus. I wait for all the kids to cross and completely clear the area. I stared my car and what I couldn't believe everything was fine. I came home called my husband he called the dealer and I began to research. To my disbelief there are hundreds of complaints on this issue code:C1179 delta sensor and nothing is being done about it. Most people like myself purchase a large vehicle because we have multiple people to drive around, like my kids I watch ranging from 1-12yrs. This floors me! I was at a cross walk when this happened with kids crossing what if I couldn't stop I would of hit the kids!!!! what if I crashed I had three other kids that I watched in the car with me. It is disgusting to me that nothing is being done there is no recall on this!! to my fear something will fatally happen for you guys to do something. Please fix this problem before something really bad happens!!!. oh and not to mention you have no warning when this occurs and when U turn off your car its like nothing ever happened. Come to find out it resets the code. I'm scared to drive my car because reading others it happens again! recall!!!

Problem with car accelerating spontaneously when brake booster sensor fails at random times. Initial problem with brake peddle going soft and the anti-lock braking system gets activated when braking trying to do standard braking. The brake light turns on, the peddle goes to the floor, brakes are not normal and very touchy and the car shudders viciously to a stop while. Loud noise is scary while brakes not firing in the usual peddle position and feel like mush. Now in January a new situation started occurring when the brake booster would fail is that the Armada would also accelerate the engine on pressing the brake. I went to stop my Armada's and the engine surged its rpms while the anti-lock relays were firing. I stood on the brake peddle with my every muscle in my body to try to get the Nissan Armada to stop. I could not shift the car into neutral because the shifting lock seemed to engaged. I ended up turning off the engine and was able to stop. I called Nissan America to report this issue. Also stopped by the local Nissan dealership and service manage informed me that the braking issue was caused by the delta sensor in the brake booster and was a know issue but that this was the first time he heard about the spontaneous acceleration when applying the brakes at low speed and that he only had heard about the spontaneous acceleration when applying the brakes at higher speeds. He said this was caused also by the delta sensor in the brake booster. I think I understood him in saying that when this sensor fails it allows the booster to inject air into the intake that causes the car to accelerate. I replaced my brake booster yesterday to find today that my Armada has the same deadly issue! please have Nissan fix this known safety issue!

My son was driving home one night (20 mph) and slowed to make a turn and the brake light came on, there was a clunking noise, and the brakes did not work. He left me a note telling me not to drive the car in the morning - "something seriously wrong with the brakes". when my husband went to check it in the morning there was nothing wrong with brakes. We thought he was crazy.two weeks later I was pulling into parking lot (2mph), the brake light came on, clunking noise, brakes did not work.after doing some research online and reading these complaints and seeing that once you restart the car the problem goes away, I went out to start the car and everything worked fine. Now 2 weeks later, backing out of the driveway last night, brake light came on, clunking noise and brakes did not work. I have contacted the dealer who sold me the car and he was unaware of any problems. I called a district manager at carmax and he, too, was unaware of the problem. Happening 3 times in 5 weeks is unacceptable. I can not let my children drive the car. I am scared to drive on the highway. Can't believe Nissan won't recognize the problem. I may get an attorney. Class action?

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, she applied the brakes as the pedal abnormally traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle only decelerated after an extended time frame. The failure recurred eleven subsequent times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis but no cause for failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 90,000.

My wife was driving 65 mph on the interstate and traffic came to a halt. When she went to apply her brakes the pedal went to the floor and the Armada would not stop. She swerved into the grass and it finally rolled to a stop. Pumping the brakes did not work and there was a brake light that came on and it was making a terrible grinding sound. She shut the vehicle off, waited for a few minutes to collect her thoughts and when she turned it back on everything was O.K. no light, no brake problems. From what I read on-line this is an ongoing issue and needs to be addressed and or a recall for this before someone is killed.

This happened twice with the similar incident in June 2013. While driving, brake lights up on the dash board. Emergency brake not engaged. We exited the freeway right away. Loud grinding noise when brakes is applied. The brake pedal is all the way to the floor. It took awhile to completely stop.thank god. We turned off the engine and restart and the brake light on the dash board is gone and brake is fine again. We brought the car to the Nissan dealership yesterday and they did not find anything wrong with the brake system. This is an urgent issue that needs to addressed by Nissan. Life is really at stake here.

Similar to other owner complaints, I was driving our 2005 Nissan Armada and attempted to apply the brakes. When I applied the brakes the vehicle did not stop and the brake pedal went to the floor. I have been going through this for a year now trying to find the source of this. My brake pads, rotors, etc. Are all in excellent condition. I recently had the vdc control unit reprogrammed in accordance with ntb06-040 technical service bulletin at the suggestion of my mechanic. This did not correct the condition, and the same situation happened the next day. This is a very serious issue.

We were driving the vehicle on the highway and all the sudden the brake light came on, as the light came on the brakes gave an anti-lock type response. As this was happening, we were trying to pull to the side of the road and slow down, because if this ongoing reaction though, our brakes were not working to slow the vehicle. We probably had about 25% braking power. This also happened to my wife on the road as she was traveling at 35 miles and hour. Exact same issue only two days earlier. From what I've read online it is a defective delta stroke sensor and brake booster. And seems to be very common in the Armada, titan, and infiniti qx vehicles. This is an extreme safety hazard. Should this happen at a stop light and we can't stop we would roll right into the intersection, creating a hazard to us and our children. The only way to fix the issue is to turn of the car and it reboots to saying the brake is off.

My brake light came on and when I went to put on my brakes on there was this grinding sound and my brake pedal shuttered and there was a sound like a spring being popped. My husband said that it sounded like there was something wrong with the ABS system and I have read online where other people are having the same problems with there vehicle but Nissan wont issue a recall on this problem. When you turn the car off the problem go away until the next time that it happens.

The brakes locked up, experienced vibration on the steering wheel, and brakes began stuttering. This is about the fourth time that this incident occurs. This occurs as you apply the brake slowly at slow speeds, usually around 20-30 mph. Brake warning light in the instrument panel flashes. The only way to reset is by turning off the car and turning it back on.

The incident has happened twice already once while driving and going about 35 miles per hour. The 2nd while sitting in a drive thru. While slowing down for the light, it felt as the brakes gave out. The brake pedal did not have any pressure in them and gave this loud crunching sound. Also sounded like a spring moaning. Immediately the brake light came on as if I had my emergency brakes on. I was in a panic and swerved to the side of the road not to rear end the car in front of me. This continued until after I completely turned off the car, let it sit then turned it back on. The light went off and the brakes worked as normal. The 2nd time I was in a drive thru moving forward and the brakes seem to give out. Crunching sound, brake light and only went away when I turned the Armada completely off and then on again. After researching the problem online it appears that many other people are experiencing the same problem. This Armada, my wife drives to work every day back and forth. We can't afford another car and I fear for her safety and the cars around her. Here is a link of just some of the people having the same issue. In March 2009 my 2005 Nissan Armada, which I bought new in late 2004, started to have problems with the brakes. The red warning lamps light up and the car lost most of its braking power, like not having any servo support. There were also noise and a soft pulsing feeling. We found that if we turned of the engine and then started it again, everything worked fine. Nissan could not find any faults with the car. The problem repeated itself 4-6 times a year. Nissan could still not find any faults they could not repeat the fault when they had the car in for tests. In July 2012, on my annual service, I asked again about the brakes. I was then told that other customers have had the same problem and that they now has a solution for the problem. I am surprised that Nissan has not recalled the failing brakes. Nissan's answer is still that there was no problem. I have the work papers to show what was needed to fix the problem.

I have a 2005 Armada and I experienced the ABS/brake/vdc light coming on. Took it to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong. They reset the computer and added fluid to the master cylinder. This happened after having the vehicle for 13 months. Symptoms: Brake peddle fell to the floorboard, grinding was felt and heard, dash brake light came on. It felt like the brake pads fell off the calipers and the calipers and rotors were rubbing against each other to stop the truck, which didn't happen. I had roughly 20% braking power, compared to normal, when this occurred. I have had bake work done over and over again and the issue continue to come back and it's very random. My cousin whom has a 2005 Nissan Armada also call me today complaining about the same issue. Did more research and found this web site townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.F0ffea4 were there were over 100 post of people complaining about the exact same issue with there Armada. Lucky I have not had an accident with this issue, but I feel as if my day is coming. My vehicle is paid off, and I don't feel as if this is a normal wear and tear issue of the vehicle, and I don't want to have to purchase another vehicle because Nissan is refusing to repair an safety issue with one if it vehicles. Please help, resolving this issue could prevent me or someone else from having an accident but more importantly it could help save someone's life. Please please please look at the web site I provided. I feel as if the there may not be a lot of complaints about this issue because people don't know how to report issues.

Brake light came on during normal driving conditions. When I pressed the brake to stop, the ABS system kicked on and braking distance was greatly reduced. Problem reset itself when vehicle was turned off and turned back on. It has been an intermittent problem now for 5 years. Never have had it near a dealer when it has happened so I have not gotten it fixed. It may come on two or three times a day then it might not come back on for 6 months then it will happen everyday for a week and the stop for three months. Something is clearly wrong with their braking system and I don't want to pay them to fix their mistakes. Here we are after owning the car for 5 years and seeing many talk forums of other people have the same issue and Nissan has not stepped up to resolve it. The brake system is a dangerous component to have fail going down the road.

Like many others, when applying brakes, harsh grinding noise and inability to brake easily. The problem goes away when car re-started. Has happened about 25 times in 3 years. Seems to be computer issue but never happens when at service center. When my wife drove the car, the first time it happened shook her quite a bit as she was in high traffic area going about 40 mph. It is unsafe to turn the engine off and on while driving but this is only way to get brakes operating.

While traveling on the highway (50mph) red brake light came on dash and when applying pressure to the brakes, grinding noise immediately began and pedal pressure was not available. Almost full pedal travel to the floor board. At the time, ABS was kicking in and brakes were not working properly. Had to swerve to miss cars that were stopped off of the exit ramp at a red light, pulling off to the side of the ramp. Had to turn the car off and restart the car in order for the brakes to work properly again. After research, this is a confirmed and known problem by Nissan of America with the brake booster/delta sensor in Armada and titan trucks manufactured by Nissan.
