I have a 2005 Nissan Armada and have had it for almost a year. For the past several months my brakes have been acting up. When I am driving my brake light starts flashing and I go to stop and the I can't stop. I have to stop my vehicle where ever I am driving whether it is a highway or main road and stop the car as soon as possible. I have to put it in park, shut the car off and then push the vdc light button after a few seconds and then restart my car. This happens several times a week to me and even up to 4 or 5 times a day this has happened. This is not safe and is an accident waiting to happen when you can't stop your car. This really should be a recall to the vehicle because this is not normal and definitely is a safety issue.

I was going down 4 lane hwy and started to slow down approaching intersection. The brakes went all the way to the floor and started shaking violently. It felt like the vehicle was going to shake off the axel. I just knew I was going to hit the car next to me. I had to drive home 15 mph because every time I touched the brakes the car would violently shake to the point of pulling me off of the road. When I shut the car off and restarted it, it must have fixed the problem temporarily. It has happened 2 more times. I recently started looking online for any info on the matter and found that it is happening pretty regular to people with the same model and make as mine and also in a pretty close time frame. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this is a defect. A very dangerous defect that should be fixed by Nissan before someone gets killed.

The brake, slip and vdc off light come on at once. Lose brake pedal pressure. Pedal goes almost to floor with noise like the ABS is on. Slowly can get truck to stop. Turn off and turn on vehicle, issue goes away for anywhere from a day to a few week then happens again. It has happened on mostly dry smooth pavement.

The brakes only barely stopped the vehicle after depressing to pedal all the way to the floor. Now some warning lights come on vdc, slip, brake and won't go off. The brakes don't seem to be working properly and the pedal when depressed slowly goes to the floor. I have new brakes, rotors, etc (10,000 miles and the brake fluid is at the proper level. I have read about this same problem from many many people no the web. This is not am isolated problem and should be handled by Nissan and put into a recall. People on the web were referencing a class action law suit. Please look into it.

While driving or even just putting it in reverse, when I try to brake it feels like a spongy/stringy pedal that goes to the ground and makes a loud grind noise. You have to turn off the vehicle and it is fine, I have took it in the shop and nothing wrong, I am like really... I can't be turning the vehicle off every time it does this, that is a safety issue or a definite recall..now this happens several times and with family in the vehicle is a danger I think. Hope there is a recall for this issue. Also seat belts do not retract back after the recall that was done.

I was driving in light traffic, pushed on the brake pedal, the brake light (not ABS) illuminated on the instrument panel, I heard a grinding sound and almost pushed the pedal to the floor. I pulled over, turned the truck off, and restarted it. The brake light remained illuminated, but I was able to brake. After turning it off and letting it sit for about 30 minutes, I turned it on again. The brake light was no longer on and the brakes engaged. I took it to a brake shop on 3/27/15 and was told that my pads are fine. They also checked the fluid and the level was ok. I contacted a local Nissan dealer and was told that there aren't any recalls. They have not received any reports from consumers about this type of issue occurring, but could not provide an explanation as to why this happened and could be reset by turning the vehicle off. This also happened previously, but I don't recall exactly when.

As I pressed on brakes to slow the truck down at intersection two days ago, the brake light came on and then a loud metal grinding noise came from the front! the truck now had difficulty stopping; I had to floor it in order for vehicle to come to a complete stop. I nearly rear ended the van that was in front of me! I was in the back roads so there were several stop signs/ intersections on my way home. As I continued driving and braking to slow down/ stop, the grinding noise was very loud and the truck rarely had any brake power! I was terrified and finally was able to slow down enough to pull over on to the side to breathe and calm my nerves down. I put the truck in park and checked to make sure I released the brake pedal, etc. I then continued home where I turned truck off and asked neighbor mechanic to check it for me. He turned truck back on and we drove it to test brakes. Everything was now working fine! it did not sit right with me. I researched online last night and just like the fuel gauge issue that happened a week prior, there are thousands of people affected by this brake failure! when a rep from Nissan consumer svcs called earlier today to follow up regarding my truck's fuel gauge issue, I reported the brake issue. She just said "yes I'm sorry but you will have to pay for dealership to verify issue first in order for Nissan to take some kind of action." Unbelievable. Especially when there are reported incidents out there of this defect. Unfortunately, consumers also report that this brake issue happens intermittently so it's hard to prove/ diagnose. With a fuel gauge issue and now, brake issue, I'm more afraid to drive my truck especially with my children in it! I pray Nissan will step up and do the right thing in taking responsibility of replacing/ repairing these defects. Please don't wait till there are fatalities before doing something about it.

The incident happened on November 15, 2014 while accelerating from a stop light going North before the intersection (overpass) of carmenita street, norwalk, ca and I-5 freeway at approximately 10 mph. The brake light came on and the brakes lost power along with giving a spring sound. I brought the vehicle to my local mechanic. No problem was found and cannot duplicate the problem as stated and because of this mechanic was not able to resolve the issue/problem. Once the vehicle is turned off and restarted braking power returns to normal and the brake light goes off. This is the first incident that it happened but I was scared and lost confidence in the driving the vehicle especially on freeways with my family as passengers and putting them, myself as well as other people in danger. It seems that I am not alone who experienced this problem on this vehicle after doing a research over the internet.

Since 2006 the brake light comes on while driving I have to pull to side because I lost my brakes and I have taken to Nissan dealer and they have adjusted the delta stroke sensor. I have been doing this for many years into my warranty expire. And know the want to replace the power booster. Know they are said delta stroke sensor on the brake power booster is not getting proper voltage. They are many Nissan Armada with the same problem. I am ones of the lucky persona have got on an accident. I believe Nissan are responsible for the problem. I believe Nissan is responsible to recall all Armada from 2005 to present.

I was on my way home from work and a car cut me off, I stepped on my brakes and the brakes went down to the floor and I heard and felt a grinding noise. I immediately swerved into the dirt and thank god there was no vehicles parked in the area I had turned into. I noticed my brake light was on. I then slowly made my way home and parked in the driveway. I called the dealership and made an appointment to have my truck checked. On 10/6/14, I drove my truck very slow and carefully to the dealership. On 10/7/14, I was told a code #C1179 delta sensor was bad and the brake booster assembly needed to be replaced. I went on line to research this problem and discovered numerous complaints regarding this matter. It is a major factory defect with Armadas, titan and QX56 models from 04 to present and Nissan refuses to acknowledge it.

As I was on my way back from the store, I was slowing down to come to an intersection to turn when I felt this grinding feeling in the brake pedal. It made an awful noise and I had no brakes per SE. The emergency brake light was on, however, I had not put it on. I had to stop as best I could and turn the car off. Only after I turned the car off, did the emergency brake light go off and I could continue. I didn't do it again on the way home, but it has happened several times since then. Once, I had my granddaughter with me and it really scared me because we were on a major highway when someone pulled out in front of me. Luckily I was a safe distance behind and it was rush hour or I might have been actually going down the highway. As it was, I was sitting in traffic. As of now, my "service engine soon light is on" and I can't get it inspected.

Brake judder from front brakes.[xxx]. I have had numerous episodes like this "bad ABS, I think, on Armada". everything goes well and am traveling at low speed or pulling out of the parking and step on the brakes and hear a terrible grinding sound coming from the brakes in addition to a spring like sound and a significant reduction in braking power. This continues until I pull off the road and shut off the engine and then start it back up and the brakes work fine. This has happen 8-10 times since May 2014. It did happen couple of time when I was traveling with 20-30 mph and I come to stop, causing groaning, banging noises and feel spongy.this started happening in the same week or so after I had brake work done by dealer. I had taken my car to dealer to replace rotor and pads. This didn't happen before that time. I took the car back to dealer in July and complained about this issue. They reset the module and suggested to replace the booster if it happens again. I ran the scanner to see error code C1179, delta stroke sensor. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

We bought this car in 2010 and had been very happy with it. 2-3 times over the first 3 years of ownership this happened, but always at very slow speed right after leaving our driveway. Problem was corrected by turning the car off and back on. This accident was the first time it occurred some distance from home. A car stopped short, causing the car behind to brake very hard. My wife (with our 18 month old son in the car) attempted to brake and couldn't, hitting both cars. Since the accident, the issue has occurred with increasing frequency (3X in the last month alone) - our issue is identical to what I've now found on numerous sites - ABS light comes on, very little braking power, grinding noise, vibration in the pedal. Stop the car, turn it off, turn it back on, problem gone.

I experienced a sudden loss of braking power as I was approaching an intersection at about 30 mph and applying my brakes. The brake pedal became soft and unresponsive and the pedal began to shake and the ABS system or brake booster could be heard making a metallic grinding noise. I lost about 80-90% braking ability and was barely able to stop the car before it entered into a busy intersection. This occurred for 1 1/2 miles until I got home. Vehicle was taken to the dealership the next day, however, the problem could not be replicated. They suggested a $900 brake booster replacement with no assurance that it would solve the problem. I looked through the original service records of the car and found that the previous owner had taken the vehicle while it was still under warranty for the exact same issue on 3/5/2008 and a vdc software update was performed. That did not solve the problem. There appears to be a design defect in the braking system that is causing this to happen.

While driving, the brake light came on and when pressing the pedal it did not brake as usual and it took much longer to stop and the pedal would vibrate and the car made a grinding noise. We pulled over and turned the engine off and on and then it worked. We have had this problem happen several times before but it is happening more often, it happened three times in the past week, to the point that we are afraid to drive it since this might cause an accident.

While driving the brake lights came on and the brakes made a loud clunking noise. I had to slow down and stop and turn off the car. After conducting an inspection of the brakes, I restarted the car. The brakes were released and the brake light went off. This has happened several times since then, not only with me but also with my wife who was driving with my daughter in the vehicle too. After looking at the online forum (club Armada) I determined that the vdc system needed reprogramming (according to all of the many other posts about the same incident). I'm here at the dealership now and it should cost about $100 to fix. We'll see.....

On 8/12/14 I was driving at approximately 9:15 pm and I was making a left turn onto clarkson avenue from nostrand avenue and all of a sudden my brake light came on and a I heard a spring popping noise when I had put my foot on the brakes. I was scared and drove home very slowly stopping at several lights and the spring popping and now grinding noise continued every time I put my foot on the brakes. I had to slowly press the brakes because it seems as if it lost some power. The next morning on 8/13/14 I called aaa to tow me to Nissan. Nissan told me my rotors, brake pads and brake fluid needed to be replaced and that will solve the problem. I had the repair they suggested and drove home and everything was fine. Now today on 8/14/14 the same problem occurred with the brakes again and its 8 P, M, I will have to wait until tomorrow to contact Nissan to see if they can rectify the problem.
