I stopped 10 feet behind pickup at a traffic light. While my foot was on the brake, the SUV surged forward. I tried to stop it when it did it again resulting in collision. It was after putting it in neutral that it calmed down and I was able to drive it to the side to exchange information with the other driver. This happened also last March 2018 while waiting in queue to fill up with gas. I almost hit a small car. After putting it in Park, the transmission linkage broke, I had to have the car towed to a mechanic that fixed the linkage ad I could drive it again. I thought that was the problem but apparently NOT. The Nissan mechanic now says he can't find an error code and cannot reproduce the problem! Afraid to cause injuries.
Update from Mar 20, 2019: The dealer said no error messages therefore he couldn't help. An independent garage changed the accelerator pedal/assembly since it was the first year for "drive by wire" accelerator, that is no direct cable exists between the accelerator and the throttle body, just an electrical wire and he thought this seems to have fixed other similar problems after an internet search. We'll see. But waiting for it to recur strikes like telling a man with an umbrella who just got hit by lightning to wait till it happens again before not using the umbrella during a storm. Then I felt better getting the body fixed.
