On 8/12/22 at 17,518 miles I needed my transmission replaced on my 2020 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV. At such low mileage that was a shock. Just prior to the car's engine light (the whole panel lit up, not just the one light) the vehicle began to stutter. Mind you, I had no such symptoms before this. Then the lights came on and it was stuttering, vibrating, and shaking. I was a couple minutes away from a Nissan dealership thankfully, because I do not think the car was safe to drive much further.
This is when they found that the following needed replacement in the same day: transaxle replacement, transmission replacement, and transmission computer/module reprogramming.
Then of course I did not have my car for 2 whole months while I waited for this service to be performed, and more than a month of that was spent without a loaner vehicle! I was very lucky to have a family car I could later borrow because that was awful to deal with. I will also mention that I am by no means driving this vehicle harshly. I go to and from work and I do not rapidly accelerate.
I would never, ever buy another Nissan again after this (and due to other issues, that are detailed in separate reports). It was my second Altima, and both had so many problems I should never have gotten this one, it has truly been a Nightmare car. I would caution anyone on buying one with their transmissions being notoriously bad. As I type this today, I am getting the same symptoms as when they last replaced my transmission, so I hope it does not have any further problems.
