The car had less than 100,000 miles on it when the transmission completely and totally failed in the dealership parking lot when I took it there to be sold. The CVT issue as a whole in previous Nissan Altimas has already had a class action law suit on it, and I am hoping another class action will occur as this year (2018) gets older. It would be really nice to get some of my money back! I will NEVER buy another Altima even though this was the 3rd one I have owned. My understanding is that the CVT is a closed transmission system which is not supposed to have its fluid changed. They are finding, the CVT transmission is better in theory than in reality, not all it is cracked up to be and these closed CVT systems aren't lasting over time on any make/model.
