I went to this rental and got in put my foot on the brake and the car turned on. At that time I was under the impression that the key fob was in the car. I could not find the key anywhere, I took the seats out of the car I also took the carpet out, no key. I called hertz in. Fayetteville. Ga and asked was there anyway that the car can crank without the key fob they said no it has to be in the car. I took everything out of the car again. No key. I then called the dealer in GA. They said the same thing, if the car is running, turning on and off the key has to be in the car. Now That Is A Lie. I have the key to prove it. I turned the rental in, went on vacation, came home looking for another set of keys and found the 🔑 on my dresser. I drove this car all over town thinking the key was in it. I turned it off and on but at no time was the key in the car. If they had told me its a possibility that the key was not in the car I would have looked elsewhere. These cars crank without the key fob. I live in a 2 story house and my bedroom is at the back of the house, the car was parked on the street. I drove an hour away, cut the car off and got back in it. I could lock the doors from the inside but not with the button on the outside. So if your car cranks and you can't find the key it may not be in the car. I have the key to prove it.
