I was driving home from work and, it just hesitated and I kept my foot on the gas, and it shot like a bullet, then hesitated again, and the Tachometer, went way up, and the car sounded like she was working hard. I got home ok but, the next day I was worried, but, she had no problem at all, although the Engine light is on.

I will be going to my mechanic in a week, for a car with little mileage, 29000 miles, and I only drive 7 miles to work. I don't go anywhere else, she's not abused. I don't get it, it almost feels like she's not getting gas when it happens. I am a retired woman, I work part time, to pay for my car, sadly I gave my 20 yr. old Toyota Avalon to a needy family. I should have kept it, it ran great.

I just wanted a new car to take some trips to visit family, I bought the Nissan at the beginning of the Pandemic, before I know there was a Pandemic. So there is no visiting now, but I would not go because of the way the new car acts, I don't feel safe... I do wish I still had my Toyota!

Altima SR

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,800 miles

My 2016 Nissan Altima SR has developed a problem while accelerating. The engine doesn't shut down completely or turn off but it will cause the car to just lose power. It's as if it's choking out or failing to get any gas or the electrical system just shuts down temporarily. It had never turned the car off where I have to restart the engine, it just fails to allow me to accelerate.

The dealer installed a new part that had something to do with the tail lights, when the brakes are applied it would send a signal to the computer telling it the car was braking and this would shut the engine down so you couldn't accelerate. After the new part was installed it stopped for a while but then it acted up 2 times after that. I took it back to the dealer but not issues were found. they reset the computer and found nothing wrong. It didn't have any problems for a couple of weeks but then while accelerating out into traffic it stalled for about 15-20 seconds, then again it sputtered another time the next day. I returned it to the dealer where it is now, they have driven it any times and can't duplicate the problem. They want to return it to me with out being repaired. Has anyone else had this issue or anything similar? Any suggestions as to what may be causing.
