CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2015 Nissan Altima shows multiple problem trends, continuing the poor reputation of the 2013 & 2014 Altima, prompting us to give it our "Beware of the Clunker" badge.
This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The low beam drivers headlight has become very dim. The bulbs were replaced with the same halogen type, but there was no difference. The headlamp appears to be clouded on the inside lens. The exterior headlamp surface is clear. This is happening all the time.
2015 Nissan Altima - the low beams provide insufficient lighting during night driving and creates a safety hazard. I bought the vehicle used in 2018. I replaced the bulbs but there were no improvements. Friends and family notice the problem and are afraid to drive at night in this car. Research shows the projector bowls are defective and it is going to cost me nearly $1K to replace both headlight assemblies.
Low beam headlights are dangerously too dim, posing a very serious safety risk. Have to drive with high beams on to safely see the road, and for others to see us. Consumer stated headlight assemblies was replaced.
Initially I thought my eyese were going bad, but after researching, there is recurring incidence of of consumers reporting dim headlights. Its to the point that I try not to drive at night, and if I do, I have to use my high beams which poses a hazard to other drivers. Nisssan is aware of the problem, however is charging over $1000 to replace the headlamp assembly because simply replacing the bulb is not the solution. www.nissanproblems.com/Altima-projector-headlights/#:~:text=the%20low%2dbeam%20headlights%20in, creating%20A%20less%20effective%20headlamp.
The headlight component is of very poor quality. It doesn't matter what kind of bulbs are placed in the headlights, the light does not project onto the road enough to see well at night. The headlights don't project far enough out and you are only able to see the road that is barely in front of you, not even to the sides. I have tried upgrading the bulbs multiple times and there is no difference.
I am also having an issue with the low beam headlights being dangerously ineffective for night driving or inclement weather. It seems that their are more than an adequate amount of complaints filed to warrant some action. My daughter and grand children ride in this vehicle and there better not anything happen to them because of this. Nissan nor NHTSA have enough money to settle that lawsuit. Lights declined gradually. From online research I see that the issue is the reflectors inside the headlight assemblies. I have also changed to "brighter" bulbs, no help. I've researched aftermarket headlight assemblies and they also seem inferior.
Low beams are hard to see at night. Have replaced multiple times and still hard to see at night which is dangerous. I don't feel comfortable driving at night or morning due to poor visibility.
The interior lights don't work I have a push start and I have to use my key to unlock/lock the doors. The beeper doesn't work and the battery has been replaced several times. My car also drives as if it's in neutral and won't pick up speed. I have to turn the car off and start it back up for it to stop but it will do it constantly. I have took it to the dealership numerous of times and they always tell me they can't find an issue. This has been going on for a year now.
The reflection assembly in both front headlights has been coming apart resulting in a gradual loss of brightness. It is very hard to see when driving at night.
