CONSISTING PROBLEM TO START UP THE ENGINE. NISSAN DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE KEY BATTERY BUT IT'S NOT. EVERY 4 TO 5 DAYS, I HAVE TO CHANGE THE KEY BATTERY TO START. I WISH MY CAR HAS OLD-STYLE CONVENTIONAL KEY, NOT BUTTON. BECAUSE THIS IS DEFECTED. NISSAN HAS TO RECALL AND FIX IT.

Here's the lowdown:

Everything is normal until you try to start it (note: this only happens 1/20 or so times).

Car will jut once (solenoid tugs once in starter), Immobilizer engages.

Nothing will work, your fob won't work, pressing the nissan logo to the ignition won't work, neither will changing the battery in your fob.

Each time I take it to the dealer, they say they cannot reproduce the problem, and give it back to me.

This is a recall waiting to happen.

VEHICLE IS TOTALLY SCREWED UP ELECTRONICALLY. REMOTE START DOES NOT WORK UNLESS RIGHT NEXT TO CAR BUT MOST TIMES DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. NAVIGATION SYSTEM COMES ON AT WILL -- AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF UNTIL WHENEVER. RADIO (AUDIO) SHUTS OFF AT WILL AND WILL NOT COME BACK ON NO MATTER WHAT I DO UNTIL IT'S GOOD AND READY. CANNOT MAKE OR RECEIVE PHONE CALLS. HAD CHROME BODY SIDE MOLDINGS INSTALLED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE. DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT CAR WANTED TO CHARGE ME $200 MORE THAN ANOTHER NISSAN DEALERSHIP. WHEN MOLDINGS WERE INSTALLED, DEALER DIDN'T EVER BOTHER TO WASH THE CAR FIRST! WTF!

I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS ALTIMA. TOO MANY TO MENTION AND MORE KEEP HAPPENING EVERY DAY!!

SORRY I EVER BOUGHT A FOREIGN CAR. VOWED I NEVER WOULD. SHOULD HAVE KEPT MY FORD!

ONCE A CAR IS SCREWED UP ELECTRONICALLY, IT CAN NEVER BE FIXED. BESIDES, IF I TOOK THE CAR TO NISSAN, WHAT WOULD I DRIVE IN THE MEANTIME? DEALERSHIPS NEVER PROVIDE "LOANER CARS" FOR CUSTOMERS ANY MORE.

I AM STUCK WITH THIS DAMNED CAR AND I HATE IT!!!!!!!

SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT AMERICAN. MAYBE I WILL TAKE THE FINANCIAL HIT AND GET RID OF THIS PIECE OF S***

Always had 2 fobs in my pocket because I have two push button to start cars! Never had a problem with my other car being locked out or not starting! I guess when you have a real lemon a brand new Nissan that won't let you lock door then wont let you get back in the car or when you finally get in tells you you have the wrong ID to start the car its gets more than scary! Dealership when asked said it is probably that I had two fobs in my pocket! Bologna! This car is unreliable and I keep having one problem after another!

Altima SL 3.5L

  • 10,000 miles

The fob works to let me into the car but then once I get into the car, the car doesn't recognize my key. In some cases, taking the fob out of my pocket and getting it close to the push start button will work. Other times I have to hit a button on the fob for the car to recognize it and start. It happens intermittently so I can't figure out what is the issue. I have a suspicion that it happens when the sun has been shinning on the driver side door or there's a big temperature change, but nothing to prove that suspicion.

Update from Sep 20, 2014: There are also times when the button on the outside of the door won't unlock/lock the door and I have to use the fob to unlock/lock the doors.

I purchased a 2014 Nissan Altima SL on March 17,2014. I had issues with the FOB. I got messages that the key ID was not recognized. The car would not start. I was told that it could be my fast lane pass. I had the car in 3 separate times for the issue and Nissan was aware. I filed a complaint because in Massachusetts the Lemon Law gives 3 tries to fix. They sent my complaint to arbitration and said it takes 10 days to get a resolution and no guarantee Nissan would buy the car back or swap it. They suggested that I try my dealer for a swap.

Quirk Nissan in Quincy MA said it would cost me more money. I opted to go to another dealer since they were going to charge me anyway. I had 2 other issues that their service department took 3 tries before fixing correctly. I ended up going to 24Nissan in Brockton, Ma. $2,000 later plus my trade got me into the same car in white. My car was beige. Nissan closed my case and because I purchased an extended warranty, they give me 3 years/36,000 miles of free service for my troubles. The free service only includes tire rotation and oil and filter changes. A far cry from $2,000. We will see how this works out. If I have any more issues, I may go back to a Toyota Camry when the 2016 comes out.

Has anyone else had the issue ? So far no issues except a clunking noise underneath. I had this with the other car, but there is a fix. The brake cable has to be adjusted.
