CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014 Nissan Altima shows multiple problem trends, continuing the poor reputation of the 2013 Altima, prompting us to give it our "Beware of the Clunker" badge.
At first, I took it to 2 previous shops and they wouldn't touch it due to liability. Took it to my personal mechanic and told him about the issue that I found. A day later, he calls me and stated that the wires located by the radiator were broken and he ended up replacing them, then adding more refrigerant and it was blowing cold again. One happy camper I am.
Update from Sep 9, 2022: A month later, my AC went out again. Took it back and the wire connecting the compressor snapped. Problem fixed and back again with AC.
In Germantown TN, when leaving doctor office it was hot. So I drove around parking lot to so my A/C could kick in. It didn't happen. I drove from Germantown to Horn Lake MS on Goodman Road, then finally I begin to feel cool air blowing. That was crazy. It was hot and miserable.
A/C blowing hot air. While on vacation it took over 30 minutes to cool off. Think about it, you leaving an amusement park in July, hot hot summer day. Turn your car own and drive from your parking space and pick your family up at the entrance car still hot. Didn't cool off until your were back at the your place of lodging. You're hot and tired. What an embarrassment!
This is past awful. To be in a hot car, that hotter in the car than outside. Scenario: Left home to pick my son up from school. The car finally cooled off after I got to the school and set there but when I turn the car off, due to the wait at the school, upon turning the car on it was hot, so I'm sitting in a car blowing hot air on a 95 degree day didn't cool off. This do not make sense, furthermore, I have a 2007 Murano that has no problem with the A/C even on a 100 degree day it will cool off and stay cool, even if you are sitting STILL. NOT THE 2014 Nissan Altima.
NISSAN knew this is a problem even with previous models. Why keep doing the same thing? Correct the problem.
I am a cancer survivor and the heat makes me really weak and sick. Can you imagine living in South Florida with heat blowing at you in 90 degree weather!
I Googled the problem and I see that this has been an ongoing problem with Altima's going way back to 2009 .
Why hasn't this been fixed???????

Its only 116 in Phoenix, AZ this month so its a great time for an ac to blow hot air.. Estimate repair would be 1200 for a new compressor. I was then told that Nissan 2013 and 2014 Altima has known problems with the ac.! It should have been recalled if I didn't have an extended warranty I would have been out of luck. I had a camry with 300k miles and never had to replace the ac and it always blew very cold.
2014 Altima a/c blowing hot air, odor when turned on. Dealer wants $1280 to replace. my complaint is that the is not that old low mileage a/c compressor should not go out this soon. They should have to pay for replacement. I noticed in 2013 Altima a/c compressor was recalled ,clearly they did not fix the problem in the 2014.
RIDICULOUS!!!!!! I THOUGHT NISSAN'S WERE GOOD CARS AS WELL. WHEN ON THE FREEWAY ARE DRIVING ABOVE 40MPH AIR BLOWS COLD; SLOWER THAN THAT OR SITTING IDLE BLOWS HOT AIR. WAS TOLD IT WAS THE COMPRESSOR. GOING TO DELARSHIP TODAY. EVEN THOUGH I WAS "TOLD" THAT IT WILL BE COVERD UNDER WARRANTY, (TO BE DETERMINED TODAY) IT IS STILL A RIP OFF SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A TOYOTA, LIKE I HAD BEFORE. SINCE A KNOW WHEN MY WARRANTY EXPIRE I AM GOING TO HAVE ALL OF MY MAJOR PARTS CHECK BEFORE THE WARRANTY IS OUT, SO IT WILL BE COVERED. I understand we are beyond the 36,000 miles BUT the car is only TWO years old - ridiculous according to 3 mechanics that the A/C compressor would fail. DEFECT that Nissan will do nothing about regardless of the escalation process - that was quoted to take 3 business days and took DOUBLE that. Not a happy camper
Took my car back once again to the same dealership where I bought the car (that found a leak in the A/C's hose to be the root cause of no cool air coming out of the vents...the first time). My car was once again not putting out cold air when the A/C was on. After ridiculous amounts of hours and the dealership trying to keep my car for as long as possible, they found the cause to be faulty dampers and an electrical issue which they claim the cool air was always there, but it was not able to flow outward through the vents. I honestly think this dealership is not up to par on quality and knowledge. Next time i will be taking it to a different dealership which is completely unfortunate for me as I live 4 miles from this one and the next dealership is 30 miles away.
In addition, the stereo system is glitchy (especially in hot weather). Look for another complaint on this issue. Geez. Way to go Nissan. :( My 2010 Nissan Titan performs way better than this car.
So this is a brand new car (I bought it Dec 28 2013) and these issues are causing me to reconsider buy the V6 mustang I really wanted anyways but due to my long commute, settled on this Altima.
