CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Nissan Altima has multiple problem trends including the CVT transmission, and now that this model is out of warranty, it earns our "Avoid Like The Plague" badge.
Owners complain about vibration and transmission failure related to the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), a whining noise from the power steering pump, and constant windshield problems that appear to be the result of poor design.
Be warned: the 2014 & 2015 Nissan Altima appears to share these same problems.

3 door latches broke on my 2013 Nissan Altima, within 3 weeks of each other. I took my car to Nissan for repairs thinking it would be covered under a warranty or recall as so many other owners had the same problem. The dealer informed me that there was a defective plastic part in the latch that breaks on that model vehicle; this particular dealership had fixed 30 or so within the past year. It cost me about $500 to have it fixed. I had been rolling the driver-side window down to get out but HAD to have the back doors repaired because I have small children and if there had been an accident the children would be trapped in the backseat.
I called customer care to complain. They considered my case for about a week and came back with a determination that they could not cover it because it was out of warranty. Even the Nissan dealer indicated that since so many of these vehicles had the same problem a recall should be given. I am disappointed at the lack of action provided by Nissan! God-forbid if someone gets hurt because they can't get out in the event of an accident!
