CarComplaints.com Notes: You don't want to get 2009 and 2010 Altima owners started about their cars. That is, unless, you know how to start their cars.
These vehicles can suddenly become impossible to start thanks to a faulty electronic steering column lock (ESCL). Nissan dealers will gladly replace it, but that will run you $1000.
More info & videos about the Nissan ESCL defect are available over at NissanProblems.com.
It's one of the many reasons this car was named CarTalk's Turd of the Week and given our Beware of this Clunker badge. Two dubious honors.

windshield wipers stop working during heavy rain & snow
Driving on a busy Ontario highway (401) during a blinding snow storm and the wipers just stop working, Luckily I was able to get the shoulder of the road, the wipers did resume working after about 25 minutes of resting (waiting for the tow truck) and they have been working since (about a week). I have just returned from the dealer where of course they were not able to replicate the issue, nor was there any errors in the computer either.
This is the second time that this has happened. The previous time was in the summer during a heavy rain storm. The dealer could replicate the issue that time and the switch was replaced.
This time I am pushing to have the motor replaced.
Update from Apr 29, 2016: have now replaced the wiper motor, monitoring the situation to see if the issue has been resolved.
