CarComplaints.com Notes: You don't want to get 2009 and 2010 Altima owners started about their cars. That is, unless, you know how to start their cars.
These vehicles can suddenly become impossible to start thanks to a faulty electronic steering column lock (ESCL). Nissan dealers will gladly replace it, but that will run you $1000.
More info & videos about the Nissan ESCL defect are available over at NissanProblems.com.
It's one of the many reasons this car was named CarTalk's Turd of the Week and given our Beware of this Clunker badge. Two dubious honors.
on a couple of raining days while at work my windows went down this has happened at least 12 times. at night i can hear my door locks locking and unlocking while im in bed this happens at least 5 days a week.
I first noticed the rear driver's side door lock didn't work before taking the car home after the initial purchase. The dealership agreed to repair it if I brought it back. Which they did free of charge. After I got home, I then discovered the passenger rear door lock had stopper working as well. Well after a call into the dealership, they haven't returned my calls and I'm left holding the bag. I sucks that I have two actuators fail on a 3 year old car and I traded in a 20 year old Mazda that still had the originals.
