Getting notification on dashboard for the passenger side airbag not working. I have checked and informed it would cost $1200 to get this fixed. As I am investigating this I have found out this is a common problem with Nissan Altimas. I have entered the VIN to see if there is a recall but that is not the case but feel that if there are all these complaints, there should be a recall.

Last week, the SRS warning light goes ON, and remains steady until the switch is turned OFF. It is worrying as that means that the Airbag may not deploy in any eventual need; moreover, the INSURANCE company may find in this a big deal.

I was driving to work and out of nowhere the airbag light started to blink. I called the dealership which stated that it wouldn't be under warranty since I was past the 36,000 miles. I'm one of the odd ones that actually reads the manual.....I mean I even keep a electronic file on my computer to reference. Anyways on page 5 of the warranty guide booklet there is one tiny line that states under the Powertrain Warranty (5 years or 60,000 miles) all airbags and related electronics are covered. I took it in and had to show the manual to the service guy and then they said okay it's covered. They were also nice enough to provide a rental since it took 4 days of them finding out the Module failed, ordering a new Module and then taking the whole dash apart to install the module. It would have cost $1200.00 bucks but thankfully I found it was covered in the manual. So.....be careful if you have a similar situation and your service advisor doesn't realize it's covered.
