The dash board is melting. There is a sticky substance coming form the dash board that causes a significant glare from the sun. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs and filed a complaint reagrding my dashy board (complaint #19437322) and a representative named "marisol" advised me that Nissan would not be replacing or repairing my dash board at not expense to me. Thsi is an obvious manufacturers defect and may owners of the 2008 Nissan are experasincing teh same unsafe conditions associated with the dash board melting.

My 2008 Nissan Altima needs to be recalled due to dashboard melting. The dashboard is sticky and gives off a glare during the daytime while driving. This issue is extremely hazardous and blinds my vision when I drive during the day. Please Nissan fix this issue. Take responsibility for the materials used when manufacturing a vehicle. Care about your customers concerns and fix my dashboard.

The dashboard of my Altima is melting and has been melting. It is extremely hard to see when driving, in fact has almost gotten me in multiple wrecks. Is it still safe enough not to be recalled? when the sun hits the windshield I can hardly see. You'd rather risk lives rather than have the manufacture replace a faulty cosmetic part they put on the market.

I own a 2008 Nissan Altima with 125000 miles which I purchased new. I called Nissan usa to report the dashboard melting problem and also report a whining noise coming from the transmission. A case was opened and within a couple of days I was told there was nothing they could do. Nissan would have replaced the transmission if I had 120,000 miles, but when I called to report the noisy transmission my actual miles were 124400 miles. They claimed that I'm no longer under the warranty because of the extra 4000 miles. I have owned three previous Nissan cars and so far I was very happy with the quality and reliability of the cars. It is clearly that the issues is related to the materials used and parts used in this model and year. I would like Nissan to take responsibility for the products they manufacture and sell.

My 2008 Nissan Altima dash board is melting. I live in miami fl. And brought my 2008 Altima new from a local dealer. Around 2010, I started to notice the deterioration of the dash board. I thought the problem was related to a cleaning product. However, based on my recent research over the internet and personal observation of other 2008 Altima's own by others, the melting dash board is a pervasive problem. This problem is a real safety issue that Nissan should be resolving by recalling there vehicles that have this problem. The dash board is so shiny that it inter-fears with the driver's vision while driving. When the sun is shining, the dash reflex the sun directly in the face of the driver. I reached out to Nissan (case# [xxx]) they explained that it is nothing they can do because the car is out of warranty and refuse to repair or resolve the issues. However, since this is safety concern that has the potential of endangering the people lives, the warranty limitation should not apply. I am asking for Nissan to confirm a recall and replace my dash board. Case#[xxx] VIN#[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

My dashboard is melting. When I drive, the sun hits the dashboard. It looks like a sheet of water because it is melted. The reflection hits my eyes and affects visibility. Everything that touches the dashboard gets sticky and black marks. I have tried to get this resolved with Nissan, but they refuse to cover all of the costs. I cannot afford to pay the huge labor costs and I do not fee that I should be liable for a factory defect. This is not only cosmetic, but a safety issue.

The dashboard of my 2008 Nissan Altima coupe began melting and cracking about 1 year ago. Now the areas that are continuing to melt have become shiny and when the sun hits it at the right angle (early morning, and sunset) it causes a distracting glare to be cast on the windshield. At certain times it is extremely difficult to see vehicles in front of me without looking off to the side or wearing sunglasses to avoid the glare. Safety concerns notwithstanding, I am not enjoying the constant headaches caused by the glare I am subjected to during my daily commute. Please repair or replace this issue before someone gets hurt!

Dashboard is melting in all over, the material in the dashboard is now very shiny and makes it difficult to see on a sunny day (it's Florida). Dealership says car is out of warranty and there is no recall by Nissan. This is a huge safety issue as it causes a reflection on my windshield severely impairing my visibility and there is a somewhat hazardous smell coming from the melting material.

Regarding 2008 Nissan Altima: The air conditioning evaporator drain hose is poorly engineered leading to water draining back into the vehicle as opposed to outside of the vehicle. The water will pool in the back seat passenger side and continue to collect water until it moves forward toward the front seat passenger side. Without correcting this defect the water will lead to mold/fungus growth, rotted carpet, rusted floor wells, and potentially electrical damage as there is a main electrical wire that runs along the passenger side floor that parallels the evaporator drain hose.

The dashboard on my Nissan Altima is melting. The material has become very shiny and sticky creating a horrible glare on my windshield and I cannot see while I am driving. It is very dangerous and I was told by Nissan the melting material is emitting fumes. The windshield also has a constant film on it from the melting material, which combined with the glare is hazardous.
