Like others living in Florida, my dash in my 2008 Nissan Coupe is melting and sticky and there is a bad glare. This is way too common and seems to be a serious design flaw.

The dashboard is starting to melt and has a big crack already. Went to local Nissan Dealer and told me that the dash warranty is only covered in the first 36000 miles or 3 years.

The dashboard has gotten so melted and sticky. The REALLY bad part is that it is so glossy and shiny and the sun is reflecting the image of my dashboard onto my windshield and I can't see out of it. I have even had to roll down my window and look at the road from my window. TOTAL bullcrap that Nissan won't help. I know I'll never own another.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW FOR MY DAUGHTER FROM CROWN NISSAN IN ST PETERSBURG, FL. THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND CAUSING A GLARE THAT IS DANGEROUS. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHICH TOLD ME THEY HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. THEY SENT PICTURES AND A REPORT TO NISSAN AND NISSAN SAYS THEY ARE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM...

I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR CARS SINCE THIS IS DEFINITELY A DEFECT IN THE MATERIAL USED TO MAKE THE DASHBOARD. THERE ARE MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. WAKE-UP NISSAN, THIS IS YOUR DEFECT AND YOU SHOULD MAKE IT RIGHT...................

Has anyone ever heard of a dashboard of a car melting? This is not just disgusting and annoying, the glare off of the shiny melted surface is making it increasingly difficult to see out of the windshield. The sun reflects off of it right in your eyes when you least expect it blinding you until you move. It is really a hazard and I am not even sure what to do about ti.

The glare from the melting dash is causing me to have a difficult time driving. I have only had the car a few years and I am still paying for it. There should be a recall because it is definitely an issue on your behalf. Toyota finally recalled time for Nissan to take action and care of their clients and their well being. I have tried to get help and because you are not fixing the situation I want to never invest in a Nissan again. I will discourage everyone I encounter not to get a Nissan and show what happens. The melting is getting worse and could cause an accident.

I started noticing in June 2014 that my dash looked wet so I investigated and it was a sticky feeling as if the dash is melting, Nothing helps to clear up problem and I don't have the $2000.00 I'm hearing to replace the dashboard. This should be a recall on Nissan's part, not ours. It is hard to see when driving on a sunny day. Eventually someone will have a wreck because of this and then they are going to have a big lawsuit against them.

I will never buy a Nissan product again, this was my first and last time. I love my car but I don't like the problem with the dash. :(

The dashboard is melting and it's creating this shiny sticky mess that makes a glare on the windshield in the line of site and makes it difficult to see while driving. Even worse when the sun is out. This really needs to be recalled or something done. The inside of your car should not melt. My car is even kept in the garage most of the day. Something needs to be done.

After about 3 years, the dash started melting on top and deteriorating all over. It is a sticky mess that

can't be cleaned because everything sticks to it. When the sun is shining (happens a lot in Texas) you can barely see through the glare of the melted part of the dash. I took to dealership and complained to Nissan. They offered to fix it for $1200. The fault is Nissan's choice in material they used this particular year/model. 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe. They should stand behind their product and fix it. This is not normal wear and tear---it's poor quality and it's dangerous. They need to recall and fix this issue for all of the people who are having this problem. The part that is not melting is like soft Play-Doh, it comes right off if you run your fingernail across it. Not happy with Nissan's choice to ignore this poor quality product. Everything else is great but it would be nice to be able to see while I'm driving.

Altima ES 2.5L

  • 69,850 miles

My wife & I have owned several Nissan vehicles over the years. We have had no complaints with any of the other Nissan vehicles. We currently own a 2008 Nissan Altama with 69850 miles. The CVC transmission was changed out on a factory recall. Now the dash has started to turn melt into a sticky liquid. We have taken it to the local Nissan dealership questioning the cause. They claim to have never heard of the dash turning to a liquid. To use Armorall to clean the liquid off the dash. THE DASH IS MELTING CAUSING THE LIQUID! Armorall does not clean off the liquid. After reading some other complaints, this sounds like a Nissan product (dash) problem. The sun shines on the melting dash causing a bad glare in the eyes. This is not safe & should be recognized as a safety issue. We ( the owners of Nissan melting dashes) need Nissan to replace the melting dash at no cost to the owners. This is a factory fault that could cause a wreck & or deaths. Who would we report this to other than just Nissan?

I own a 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe. It looks like I had it for 20 years, due to the melting of the dash board. I took my car to the Nissan company to see what they can do to fix this melting of the dash board. The guy said he have never seen this before. He looked up my model and told me they can replace the dash board which it needs two pieces for $2,000.00.

I told him I will not pay for something that I feel is a default on the company product. Now this car to me is a safety hazard . When I drive my car it's gotten really bad with a glare shinning in my face due to the sticky wet look on my dash board. At first it started melting in one spot, then the weather gotten hotter and the more it started melting all across the dashboard. This is my second Nissan and I have never experienced this. Now no one wants to fix the problem.

My car is in good condition and I never had any problems with it. All I want is for the company that make these cars, fix my dash board only. The Nissan company needs to take responsibility for their product. Stand 100% behind your products. I will keep writing until the Nissan company has a recall on this problem.

The dash on my Altima is melting! It is impossible to fix. I worked at a body shop and maintained my car meticulously. Now I can barely see out the dash when its sunny. The problem is getting progressively worse and the car only has 80K miles on it. The dashboard is deteriorating quickly and now it is just a shiny goop that everything is sticking to. The dash is dangerous when driving. I can only assume northern states will be soon to follow.

This problem started 3 years after we bought it. It's really a pain in the a--. The dashboard actually is melting away. I live in Florida, so in the summer with the hot sun, it becomes sticky and I can't even touch it cause it will come right off, the pieces are falling off.

There should be a recall for this issue, at least to have the dashboard replaced with a better material.

The dashboard is melting. It looks really bad the the real concern is that it is shiny and the glare from the sun makes it almost impossible to see. It is very dangerous. I have read that this has happened to many Nissan Altima 2008 cars. It should be recalled. This is my second Altima, the first one 2005 I had no problems with. This is a very dangerous situation and Nissan will be getting sued if someone gets into an accident and they know this is a problem that they have not offered to fix. Dealer told me it would cost me about $1700 to fix.

I have been buying Nissan cars since 1990 and never had any melting dashboard issues. Except for the damn stinking melting dashboard the interior of my car is just like the first day I picked it up at the showroom. Someone wants to buy the car but in addition to the damn melting dashboard issue all four wheels are locking up when you drive less than 1 mile.

This is very frustrating...I cannot drive the car...I bought a Kia Sorento. If Nissan doesn't do something about the melting dashboard and the locking wheels issue I will NEVER buy another Nissan product as much as I love Nissans...I have owned four Nissans...Stanza, '90 and '92 240SX and the '08 Altmia Coupe.

I am FED UP with the way Nissan is treating it's customers. I hope they go out of business!

I OWN A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE. THE ORIGINAL DASHBOARD HAS BEGUN TO MELT AND THE GLARE IS VERY BAD. I HAVE NOT ADDED ANY SOLVENTS OR CHEMICALS TO THE DASHBOARD. I FIND IT HARD TO DRIVE DUE TO WINDSHIELD REFLECTING THE GLARE CAUSED BY THE MELTING DASHBOARD. THIS PROBLEM COULD CAUSE ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. NISSAN WANTS TO CHARGE ME $1,200 FOR A NEW ONE. I KNOW OF MANY OTHER ALTIMA COUPE THAT ARE HAVING THIS SITUATION AND IT IS OBVIOUS IT IS DO TO THE MATERIAL THE DASHBOARD IS MADE OF. NISSAN HAS TO DO A RECALL FOR THESE DASHBOARDS.
