The contact owned a 2008 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle and while attempting to exit the vehicle, the contact was unable to unlock the doors. The contact stated that she was informed by a sibling that the door actuator failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was unable to exit the vehicle for an hour. The contact was concerned that in the event of a fire or medical emergency that there was a grave risk of injury or death the contact stated that a family member was called and was able to come out, disconnect the battery and then unlock the door. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. A case was filed. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
