Dealer stated probably due to large pothole or speed bump - However, we are very careful drivers, and treat our vehicles with kid-gloves, only 6K per year. Also there are many web/Youtube reports that this is a common Nissan weakness - due to corrosion and cheap tubular construction of sway bar. Seems to happen around 100K km!

Very poor design from Nissan. This car is babied, freeway driven and never been abused on a track or been in a wreck. The sway bar should be a lifetime part. Factory sway bar is hollow, cheaply made and bends instead of twisting like a properly designed sway bar.

2007 Altima. rear sway bar broke for no reason. Thought a stick was hung, but turned out to be the broken sway bar. Read online. Bad design and Nissan knows about the problem. Can't believe that its not a recall item with all the complaints. Very glad it did not cause an accident.

I walked out on my lunch break to find what I thought was a twig hanging from under my car. Under closer inspection it was determined that it was the rear sway bar on the passenger side.

The problem was reported to us that there could have been a bad result from this defect. We were lucky it was found during a routine oil change because Nissan sent no notice to us and it was found by the service department that there have been at least 200 other complaints of this same problem on the same make and model and year. We reported the problem to Nissan and showed it to their service department in Pueblo, Colorado. They say there is nothing they can do and we are out the time and money.

Definitely a factory defect and the dealer gives you nothing but BS ( you hit something). The part shows rust and just twisted and broke off or snap off near passenger side(Car is only 4 yo). Cheap hollow weak stabilizer sway bar. Never herd one fail before even the bushings last longer on my 97 Toyota Camry (4 Cyl) before changing them myself and No broken sway bar.Go do a search on Google and you'll see many many same complaint about it. Are Nissan Co reading this or they just don't give a sh*t even in today's very tight auto market sales.

Just letting other Altima (2007 3.5 SE) users know that there may be a broken rear sway bar in there future. At 62,000 KL its out of basic warranty. Car is city driven and

about 10% highway. No ideas what caused rear sway bar to brake??? Dealer has ordered parts and will get them in couple days. Love the car but breaking sway bar is

a little out of sorts??? One thing I did notice when looking a break, sway bar is hollow.
