CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2005 Nissan Altima has two fairly significant problems with the floor pan rusting through & motor mounts breaking.
Altima owners report that up to a basketball-size hole develops under the floor mats where the floor pan metal rusts through. Average repair cost is over $1,000.
The broken motor mounts are less of a problem - they break at ~75,000 miles average & it's $400 to fix. Still, motor mounts should not break!

IT all started with my ignition coils melting, 3 of them have been replaced since june 2010. then my computer went out. when my mechanic tried to test a used computer (trying to save some money with a used one), smoke started coming out of my engine. all 6 coils were fried again!! after some research, my mechanic found a nissan tech that found that the negative ground cable could be the problem. sure enough...it was broken in half! he discovered its because nissan only puts a 4 inch cable in that after time, will break in half from normal engine rocking!! i think this should be a recall and nissan should foot my growing bill!!
