Several days ago, I could not remove my key. The car was properly in "Park." I clicked around on my alarm in case it somehow disabled the ignition but that was not the issue. I then turned on the car, drove it around, and was then able to turn off the engine and remove the key. My auto mechanic says that if it happens again, it may have something to do with the ignition and that he would send it in to have a locksmith look at it.
Prior to this, other issues have occurred. Most notably:
1) The car hesitates and stutters before igniting. The battery was changed within the past 2 yrs so I don't think thats the issues.
2) Also, there are times when I turn the key and nothing happens at all. Not even a clicking noise which would signal that its a battery issues. The key simply turns, and there is no noise at all.
The dealer charges me $110 just to DIAGNOSE what is wrong. Instead, I took it to my mechanic who says he is unable to fix it because he has not experienced it himself. He tried turning on my engine several times and the problem does not occur with him. I told him that its occurred enough times for me to be concerned.
I'm going to wait it out to see what happens. I recently returned from a roadtrip and the issue did not act up.
