I am the single owner for my car Nissan Altima 2004-SL and just now it has reached 89,000 miles and is running bad due to bad transmission. "Nissan vehicles are not reliable even after taking so much care" I have no warranty on my car to replace transmission. Please any one reading this message, think 100 times before you go for Nissan.................. its my sincere request.

problem #2

Altima

  • Automatic transmission
  • 77,400 miles

The transmission seems to slip between gears under the least bit of acceleration. With only 77K miles, this is REALLY poor quality.

problem #1

Altima 2.5S 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,000 miles

My car started jerking few weeks ago and the SES light turned on. I took it to the Auto Zone where the trouble codes indicated that there is a problem with the crankshaft and ECM. later I took it to Mr Transmission where they offered a free diagnostics and said there is no absolute problem with the transmission ( Tran Fluid is good , Trans works fine etc..) ( Rem the car still has the jerk during the 1st and 2nd gear shift and the mechanics out at Mr.Tarnsmission couldnt see it as a Issue at all which is strange). After the free diagnostic the mechanic at Mr.Transmission ( Cobb PKwy Location.Marietta GA) said that i need to check with a regular mechanic because they boast them selves they are gurus in Tranny related problems and nothing else. This guy refererred me to another guy ( Gemini Goodyear -Cobb pkwy, marietta 30067) who charged me with $70 for diagnostics and said its the problem with the speed sensors and he cant fix it and suggested me to take it to the dealer ship.

I wonder how these guys are faking people and eating away all our hard earned money. I took it to the dealer ship on the same day which is on Cobb Pkwy again. Now here the guy ( Joey) takes the car , I explained him that I can clearly feel the jerk when driving during the ( 1st and 2nd gear shift --Automatic Transmission). I gave him the trouble codes given by the autozone and the diagnostic report given by Goodyear guy too. After few minutes the dealer ship guy calls me and says that there is a problem with my sensors and says there are no recalls on my vehicle as he just checked using my cars VIN. I told him to fix it for which he charged $330 and recommended me with hell a lot of other services like fluid flush, brake service etc.. as if he is going to rebuild my whole car.

Bottom line is there is no fix for the problem done by the dealership. The car still has a jerk while driving. It jerks only during the first and second gear shift and after that it runs smooth. The car has only 63000 miles. As mentioned by the autozone about ECM problem related trouble code, the dealer ship says there is no problem at all. Then why is the trouble code. Now I called him again and told the problem still exists. They think we people dont have any knowledge about the vehicle and says that the problem might be because of the transmission fluid and he remembers that he recomended me during my last visit. What a good memory.

Nissan should seriously take some actions about this painful complaints and should strict guide lines for the dealerships to fix the problem and about their pricing. I am afraid what else can go wrong with this car.It s really annoying if the car stops working during a commute. Guys out here please let me know if you have encountered a similar problem and if you got any solution from Nissan.
