- Probable Fix For Your Engine Shutting Off - Hi everyone, I had the same issue with my Altima and as mostly all of you were told, my cranksahft position sensor was no good anymore (cracked and oil inside): Code P0355. I changed it but still had the issue of engine shutting off. So I used the Official service manual downloadable on the web (link attached) and at page # 248 of the EC part in the book, it tells you how to diagnose your crankshaft position sensor. BUT my problem was actually the ECM Relay located in the IPDM box located under the hood just beside the cooling overflow reservoir. So the ECM was shutting off suddenly on the road. Replaced the ECM relay and problem disapeard. This relay cost aroud 45$ and mostly the same for the sensor. Even Nissan offers this sensor as a replacement, not looking as the original. Except that, I am satisfied with the car. I have 350 000km on it, sorry don't know how many miles it makes. Good luck!

4 DIFFERENT TIMES AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE SUPPOSE TO BE FIXED, THE SAME SITUATION HAPPENS. DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ABOUT 65 MILES AN HOUR ALL AT ONCE MY SPEED WENT FROM 65 TO 15 MILES AN HOUR. THE ENGINE NEVER CUT OFF. BUT CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING ON THE FREEWAY DRIVING 65 AND ALL AT ONCE YOUR CAR DROP DOWN TO 15 MILES PER HOUR. IF YOU ARE IN THE WRONG LANE YOU ARE IN TROUBLE.
