CarComplaints.com Notes: Here's a disturbing trend for the 2002 Nissan Altima: the engine starts burning oil like crazy, the catalytic converter goes bad, the head gasket blows and eventually the entire engine needs replacement. Sound familiar? Like a script from a horror film, these Altimas seem doomed to fail around 95k miles.

I went recently to NTB and found out that my two front tires were rattling by at least an inch from left to right. I already had noticed that driving became unstable and nearly dangerous. They were so loose that I was afraid they fall off in the next curve. Considered how much highway driving I do I am just glad that nothing happened and I fixed the problem for $900 on both sides.
I did have exactly the same issues in 2006 and got a new front axle mounted. It lasted 6 years and then I felt it coming back. So, recently it was urgent to get these wheels back on before they fell off. (I still don't know exactly what went broke, but NTB fixed it)
On this Altima 2003, I also have a loose steering, dropped out side window, oil burning, uneven idling. Overall, pretty scary car. I am looking now into a new one and try to find a more reliable transportation.
