This issue is what gave my car the name "Michigan," after the frog in Looney Tunes. One random day, it started stalling badly. Any time I let go of the gas, the engine would cut off. It got so bad that I had to drive with my foot on the gas and the break if I wanted to stop without the engine cutting off. When I took it to mechanics (about 3 of them) to get fixed, they all said they couldn't get it to stall even once. One place had it for a week and never got it to stall. But, as soon as I got it back, it stalled almost immediately. The check engine light never came on, so no problems were ever discovered. I sunk over $2,000 to find out what the problem was and no one could figure it out. It wasn't until I was forced to stop driving it for 3 months (8 months in total with this issue) when the problem was solved. After the 8th month (and after I got my tax refund), the battery died. When I got a new one, the "check engine" light came on (which never came on the entire time). I took one last chance and bought it to a mechanic and they discovered it was the "Mass Airflow Sensor." Once they replaced it (another $1,000), the stalling stopped. But that was 8 months of hell with that car.
