Seriously, I bought a 2000 Nissan Altima GXE from a reputable dealer in Oregon. As soon as I got it, the check engine light came on. I took it back to the dealership twice. They re-set the light but didn't fix the problem. They said, 'We think it's the nox sensor' but we don't know and our guess will cost you $550. I took it to another mechanic in town after the car started sputtering and died on me about 30 times in the middle of the road. Car died at intersections specifically when it idled. And the A.C. would kill the engine too. In the summer, it's unbearable without a.c. So this mechanic charged me $133 for new spark plugs. He said, "Oh it's running fine." One week later, same problems.
I currently have the car in the shop for the 5th time. This mechanic said it's the intake manifold gasket. He ripped the engine out and replaced it. My cost so far is $625. He was getting ready to give the car back, then it died again. It's still in the shop, and the mechanic can't figure out how to fix it. Stupid car. I'm a journalist, so I don't make very much money. I can't afford these car repairs. Nissans suck. Don't buy them...
