I purchased this vehicle on June 2, 2018. It was Nissan Certified with only 19,800 miles on it. This made my car under warranty until April 2020, or 100,000 miles. Sept 20, with roughly 22,900 miles on the car, it broke down driving home form work one evening. I had to have the vehicle towed in to the shop. Upon being diagnosed I was told it would need an engine as there was metal shavings in the oil. Nissan declined to cover the repair originally citing "I was out of warranty". They sent me this in an email.
I called them and explained I was not indeed out of warranty and provided them the warranty number to my coverage agreement. At that point I was told "the letter we sent you was a form letter, it's actually not covered because its modified. Upon research the Inspector whom came and looked at the vehicle stated the vehicle looked like a "race car" because it had a tow hook on the front of the vehicle and Stillen Air intakes. Tow Hooks and air intakes come from the factory!
Even if going along their reason of refusing to fix there defect product the "Magnuson-Moss Act" should offer some protection. I mentioned this to them that since now they are saying the tow hook and air intakes cause the problem show me how. The items come from the factory. I did have to have my car towed in right? They are taking the stance that I'M nothing to them and I cannot do anything so they are brushing me off. This is my 3rd 370Z and 6th Nissan. The Nissan service manager is blown away at their sheer lack of care and support. I would greatly appreciate any assistance with this.
