The exact same problem's been reported here over 100 times. Apparently Nissan did a recall on 2009 Altimas, Maxmas and z-cars and first-half 2010 for this problem, but not the identical problem that continued to occur at later times. Basically, you drive the car perfectly, park it, and then it's 100% dead. Appears to be bad battery in the electronic key, but changing the battery does nothing.
Problem is in the steering lock/ignition switch and requires towing the car to a dealer and spending over $1000. Like many people, I'm a multiple-Nissan owner and am 100% pissed. The problem is well known by everybody and other writers say Nissan has been stonewalling it. Dealer is "sympathetic" but says they can't do much - although I hope that will change as I get revved up. (My dealer is George Harte Nissan in West Haven, CT. Until now, they have been great.)
Given the pandemic and the time I have on my hands, I plan to be a squeaky wheel that will be very hard to ignore. Right now, all I can say is the design stinks. I'll update this as I make or fail to make progress.
