I bought this car for my wife. All I can say is God help me if the transmission or engine craps out. I feel like when I pull the hood release I'm pulling a pin on a grenade. I normally do all my own maintenance on my cars but all I'll do is change the oil on this thing.
It was a used car with 88,000 miles on it. My guess is the PO did not maintain it properly.
I took it in for three unrelated problems. Luckily all three happened at once.
1) Transmission started slipping and every warning light came on. Luckily a new filter and fluid fixed the problem. Or has fixed it so far. Apparently Nissans require a fluid change every 30K miles and at $90 the PO must have been too cheap. If the car had a front jacking point and a dipstick I would have done it myself.
2) Oil pressure gauge pegged out. New sensor.
3) Car stalled when taking it to the mechanic for the transmission problem. New MAP sensor or whatever Nissan calls them fixed the problem.
Right at $400 to fix all three problems.
This car uses a quart of oil every 2K miles and smokes at start up. I'm not sure if it's just because it's a Nissan or the PO did not maintain the car.
