The new transmission has been on "national back order" for 3 weeks now. I have not been told when, exactly, this will be fixed. The dealership has set me up with a rental, which is super nice. But I would like to drive the vehicle that I am paying for. And I really like my car, so I just miss it.

I bought my 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE AWD in Feb. of 2015. I put close to 100 miles a day on my car due to an hour long commute everyday. Once my car got to 45,000 miles I noticed that it started having trouble shifting into the higher gears, once I reached 60-65 mph it seemed like it couldn't decide if it wanted to be in the lower gear or higher gear. It started to do this more often in the next two days with all the gears and on the way back home one evening it was very jerky and I was afraid to drive it. The next morning I called the dealership and they said to bring it in and the service transmission light came on as soon as I started the car. The car wouldn't shift into the correct gear and I couldn't drive it over 40mph without the rpms going into the red. It took me an hour and a half to get to the dealership. They ran tests and found that there were large fragments of metal in the transmission blocking the fluid flow and said it was a faulty transmission. Good news is that is was covered under the 100,000 mile warranty. Bad news is that I don't feel like a got a great deal on this car if it's only going to last. The warranty doesn't restart with the new transmission according to the dealership and if it dies after my odometer reaches 100,000 then I will have to pay $6,000 to replace it again. I have a 6 year loan on this car and I'm thinking I bought a lemon that is going to die before I even get close to paying it off. I have only ever owned Toyota Corollas and all 3 have been long lasting great cars, but I wanted something bigger for my family and was suggested to try Mitsubishi because they are just as good as Toyotas but I could get more bang for my buck (larger car for the money and great warranty) per the dealership people. I think I made a terrible decision and am very worried about the longevity of this car. I would not recommend Mitsubishi brand cars based on my experience. Warning to all new car purchasers!!! Many car manufacturers are putting this new transmission in cars now to help with fuel efficiency (including Toyota), but they are not reliable and have lots of problems according to a couple of mechanics I have spoken with after the fact. My parents words ring strongly in my ears "They just don't make things to last anymore."
