When traveling in the northwest US, the gate door (trunk door) when closing it would make a loud rusty like noise (like a gate with rusted hinges). The temperature was between 70-90 during the day and at nights never below 50, so the temperature was not an issue. It sounded like it was very old and as if the oil in the struts had dried out. it only happened when closing the gate and it happened constantly when I was in Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington. When I returned to phoenix it happened only once. The dealership oiled the struts, but I am not sure if the problem is really gone away since it did not do it in Phoneix before my trip and it has not since I came back except the one time.
