The rear hatch will not open. There is no manual release other than that on the outside of the hatch. Dealer and another mechanic both say this will be hard to fix and very expensive. This happened days after the last time we had the rear hatch open. It will have to be fixed from inside the car, crawling in over the rear seats and lying on the cargo deck area. The panel over the rear hatch will have to be removed from the inside, which I am told will cause this to be an expensive repair. This is my second Mitsubishi but there will not be a third if we are to have problems like this. It is most inconvienient and aggravating.
