Had a no start issue at my home. I had it towed to a local Mitsubishi Dealer for repair. The next day they called and stated that the ignition key needed to be reprogrammed. No charge for the repair, under factory warranty. A month later same issue, no start, and I had AAA tow the car to the same dealership. They called and informed me that the ECM was not showing any codes, so they will not be able to solve the no start problem. They claim that every time the car starts right up for them. Then they said it could be the ignition key causing the problem, but would not commit to a permanent repair, which means it will most likely happen again.
The service adviser recommended a new ignition key at a cost of approximately $300.00, but again stated that this was just a guess in his opinion that the key we have is faulty. I personally don't agree that the ignition key is at fault here. He was not much help and was not very cooperative with my complaint. He flat out told me to take my car somewhere else for a second opinion, at my cost. He even went as far as saying not to bring the car back to his dealership again. He personally does not like the fact that I did not buy the car from his dealership, even though my factory warranty is still valid. And by the way, there are no other Mitsubishi dealerships anywhere near where I live. Any good technician would call around and ask other dealers if this problem was encountered at there location and how to they fix it. They made no attempt other than to sell me a $300.00 key, which might not resolve the no start issue. I am betting it will happen again. This car has a no start intermittent problem that needs to be addressed.
Why should I have to sit and wait on a tow truck to tow my car into the shop on two occasions at this time of reporting.
